Mindset Monday: As we enjoy one final day of "summer", it's also time to reset for the new season. Small changes outside of the pool can lead to big changes inside the pool.
OCEAN PINES SWIM TEAM is a non-profit entity organized for the purpose of providing competitive swimming opportunities for youth between the ages of 4 and 18.
OCEAN PINES SWIM TEAM (OPST) is a competitive swim program in Ocean Pines, MD, proudly celebrating 50 years of developing athletes ages 5–18 with an emphasis on character, teamwork, and growth in and out of the pool. OPST has been a complementary aspect of the Ocean Pines Community since it began in 1975. We are constantly growing, training young people to be strong swimmers and maintaining a well-rounded competitive swim team.

🏆 At our End-of-Season Pool Party, we took a moment to recognize more than just fast swims and time drops. While championship cuts and PBs matter, so do hard work, dedication, team spirit, and the heart that makes OPST so special. 💚
👏 Congratulations to this year’s DSA awards recipients:

Several of our Hammerheads also picked up NEW actual 2026 LC Championship meet cuts after swimming the events as bonuses. Some by quite a margin! Way to go Hammerheads!! 2027 qualifying times have not yet been released but they are usually the same or close to the previous times.

Finally catching up on records!
35 records were broken at MD LC Champs including Bryn making a complete clean sweep of the 13/14 Girls Freestyle records and the listed swimmers setting the Open Relay records as this was the first time we have ever had relays at LC Champs in the Open Age category! Congratulations Hammerheads!
Next up, we will finally get to the DSA Champs records where around another 30 were broken! Our swimmers keep raising the bar and we want to celebrate every one of them. At this rate, we're struggling to keep up, but that's a "problem" we are more than happy to have! 😉 Keep pushing those limits Hammerheads!

With all of this talk of qualifying cuts and motivational times thought we would share these two great graphics created by the Athlete Reps at Michigan Swimming and Swim Moms NJ (thank you) that easily help to explain. We don't really have the bronze, silver, gold meets mentioned in the motivational times chart but it is still very useful in explaining the different levels.
