I’ll be thinking on this for a bit this weekend 🌙

R E CO V E R Y.
The single most important part of any training or exercise program.

Factors that influence recovery include:
🌿sleep
🌿mental fatigue/stress
🌿nutrition
🌿hydration
🌿warm ups/cool downs
so ya know, just a few minor things.

Not everyone needs a full 8 hours, but here are some ways to make sure the quality of your sleep is the best it can be. 🤤🌒

Do you ever feel like your mornings could be more productive? Are you just as tired at 11am as you are when you wake up?🤤

How you start the day has a huge impact on the hours that follow....a quote that summarizes this perfectly is “nothing changes if nothing changes.”

Try incorporating even just one of these into your morning routine-set your damn alarm for 5 minutes earlier if need be! Your brain and body will benefit exponentially in the long run. 🌞

What if I told you I could help you feel more energized and mobile today in less than an hour? 🌿

It could be as little as 5-10 minutes, but taking time to move your body throughout the day will make a works of difference in your energy and focus. 🌖

Many of us are sitting behind our screens more than ever now...bodies aren’t designed to do that! No need to worry about changing everything about your routine all at once, but adding in a quick mobility check in everyday is a great habit to start (today) haha.

Follow the link in bio to my YouTube channel, This week I’ve been uploading a whirlwind of follow along videos designed to increase your mobility, strength and maybe get a good sweat going.. 👌

Does this look like organized fitness to you?

One of the secrets to movement everyday?

You have to at least enjoy it a little bit.

Even if it’s not always enjoyable in the moment, find that thing that makes it worth it-could be your playlist, being outside, feeling good and sweaty...whatever it is, let that be your motivation.

It takes a lot of practice and experimenting, but there are SO many ways to move your body and be active, consistency is the other unsexy secret 💃

Come up with a list of 5-10 ways you like moving, “exercise” or not.

My top 7 are...
* backcountry skiing
* trailrunning with my dog
* Climbing rocks/trees/you name it
* Swinging kettlebells
* Dancing badly by myself
* Playing with strength + mobility flows
* Paddleboarding on literally any body of water

Just a typical leisurely afternoon on the beach?

I know I look thrilled to be doing this,but Copenhagen side planks are a valuable cross training tool for runners and pretty much any outdoor athlete, as they are fantastic for knee strengthening!

Can you remember the last time you did an adductor strengthening exercises? Do you know what an adductor is?

The Copenhagen plank requires you to place the inside/medial portion of the foot on the bench (or log lol). This ultimately targets the inner thighs, adductors, and groin, which is often overlooked when it comes to training.

Give it a try, and don’t be surprised if you walk like a cowboy for the next few days...🤠

•HIKING//CLIMBING LOWER BODY STRENGTH •

It’s never too early to start training for it! This lunge hybrid is great for training multi planar strength and core stability-2 key aspects of movement in the backcountry. 🪵

Feel free to mix up the weight/load position too: use a goblet kettlebell hold, double rack, dumbbells, sandbag....keep it interesting but scale appropriately.
