Aggression is a vital part of protecting yourself, and unfortunately most of us don’t have it. We have to relearn it.

We teach it. We make it safe and permissible to be aggressive.

I daydreamed daily about this moment for over a year and a half. This moment with my kids was my prime motivator to keep me training and pushing forward to take the Krav Maga Alliance 1st Degree Instructor Black Belt exam back in August.

The wear and tear on the body, the lack of sleep due to early morning classes or soreness throughout the night, the lack of a social life, the actual dreams I had about the exam itself… all absolutely worth it.

My deepest appreciation once again to my team who helped me prepare and train, and to Jerod, my exam partner. More details about their roles in a future post.

To my sons, Vincent and Frederick, thank you for being my inspiration, my North Star. I hope this will inspire you to do great things of your own. Your dad loves you endlessly.

Each year, a few weeks before our actual anniversary date of November 1, we get together to take action shots and then do a group photo. This gives me three weeks to get the group photo printed and ready to hang on our wall to commemorate the opening of our school.
