While some prefer a solo fitness regime, as it enables us to keep on track and stay focused, others enjoy working out with a partner. This is because it helps them to stay motivated during a workout, boosts their overall performance and they often feel they have more fun.

If you want a more relaxed, self-motivated workout, then working out alone is your best bet. Regardless of your typical routine, any combination of group and solo workouts is going to leave you feeling happier and healthier.

After taking the long and hard road and staying accountable to your goals, you will end up in a better place.

Sometimes it can be two steps forward and one step back, but every single step forward counts. There's not much to be learned by doing nothing, and so every step backwards means that there has been some learning. And learning is progress.

Success is a slow process, and quitting does not speed it up.

Past research has shown that there are roughly 3,500 calories in 1 lb of body fat.

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the average adult woman expends roughly 1,600 to 2,400 calories per day, and the average adult man uses 2,000 to 3,000 calories per day.

A calorie deficit of 500 calories per day is effective for healthy and sustainable weight loss. Eliminating sugary beverages, consuming mostly minimally processed foods like fruits and vegetables, and eating home-cooked meals can help you reach a calorie deficit without calorie counting.

Has a caloric deficit worked for you? Or what else would you like to hear about?

Building muscle can do more than make you stronger. Some types of strength training keep your bones healthy, too. Strength training can also improve the way your body processes food to help prevent diabetes and related diseases.

After thirty, we all gradually lose muscle mass, strength, and function. Ensuring we stay fit through regular strength training sessions helps in more ways than being able to lift heavy things. It enables us to maintain balance, preserve bone density, and enjoy vitality and independence.

And don't worry about never achieving the bulky bodybuilder's physique. The healthiest muscles are those found on a small, wiry, powerful physique with modest size but a high force-producing potential and the ability to summon significant amounts of power and speed.

So let's go!

A new study found that people whose weight fluctuates early in a weight loss program have worse long-term results. If losing weight feels more like being a yo-yo than a ball rolling down a gentle hill, then you might want to rethink your approach.

The American Council on Exercise says a 1 percent body fat loss per month is safe and achievable. Given that math, it could take a woman with average body fat about 20 to 26 months to achieve the appropriate amount of fat loss for six-pack abs. The average man would need about 15 to 21 months.

Still, results and how long they take can be different for everyone. Make sure you create the discipline to be consistent and your goals will come.

Consistency is arguably the most important component when working to accomplish goals, in or out of the gym. Without consistency, programs are unorganized, the body has a harder time adapting, and forming habits may be more challenging.

If you want your healthy habits to last, you need to renew your dedication to those habits every day. That way, you can build a consistent routine that will eventually turn into a lifestyle, helping you take care of your overall health.

Craving foods can be a response to stress and emotions, such as anxiety, anger, or sadness.

You may be going through health issues, problems at work, financial loss, or troubles in relationships. To deal with the stress and negative emotions that follow, you feel a sudden rush to reach the pantry and eat something, especially junk food or sugary foods to eat.

Also called emotional eating or emotional hunger, the craving hits you suddenly, and you feel an overwhelming and urgent need to satisfy it.

To avoid emotional eating, you need to first identify whether you are feeling hungry or it is just a need to feel good after an outburst of emotion.

Here are some signs of emotional eating that you can watch out for.

• Craving specific comfort foods, such as fried foods, junk food, or sugary snacks.
• Mindless eating, such as enjoying a bag of chips without remembering how it was.
• Lack of satisfaction despite eating a lot.
• Eating hurriedly without realizing whether you are full or not.
• Craving comes from your head and not as a signal from your stomach.

Do you experience emotional hunger often?

Drinking a green smoothie a day can help you increase the amount of iron and vitamin K in your system. These nutrients are essential for both red blood cell production and healthy bones. Green smoothies are also packed with antioxidants and immune-boosting nutrients.

You also gotta know that a green smoothie is definitely nutritious, but a diet consisting of only green smoothies (or any single food) isn't healthful. It has to be balanced out with whole grains, heart-healthy fats, lean protein, and fruits and vegetables.

So make sure you are eating full balance meals and add some smoothies to have all that you need.

When you're feeling stressed, your body sends out cortisol, known as the stress hormone. Cortisol can make you crave sugary, salty and fatty foods, because your brain thinks it needs fuel to fight whatever threat is causing the stress.

Emotional eating is eating as a way to suppress or soothe negative emotions, such as stress, anger, fear, boredom, sadness and loneliness. Major life events or, more commonly, the hassles of daily life can trigger negative emotions that lead to emotional eating and disrupt your weight-loss efforts.

Foods rich in protein contain amino acids to help produce key neurotransmitters in preventing and treating depression and anxiety. Protein packed meals and snacks help you avoid sugary, processed foods, which can trigger anxiety and depression.

Regular exercise can have a profoundly positive impact on depression, anxiety, and ADHD. It also relieves stress, improves memory, helps you sleep better, and boosts your overall mood. And you don't have to be a fitness fanatic to reap the benefits.

Exercise and other physical activity produce endorphins—chemicals in the brain that act as natural painkillers—and also improve the ability to sleep, which in turn reduces stress.

The following are common psychological benefits gained through exercise.

• Improved mood.
• Reduced stress as well as an improved ability to cope with stress.
• Improved self-esteem.
• Pride in physical accomplishments.
• Increased satisfaction with oneself.
• Improved body image.
• Increased feelings of energy.

Liquid calories in just about any form - alcohol, juice, soda, energy drinks, sweetened water, sports drinks, coffee or tea beverages - are stealthy calories. We don't often think of them as adding to our daily calorie intake, but they do make an impact when consumed regularly.

Liquid calories are often easier and quicker to consume and will satisfy thirst, but not hunger. They are considered “hidden” calories because the body does not feel the same fullness from a drink as it does from solid foods.

In the long-run, this leads people to consume more calories than required, resulting in a calorie surplus and subsequent weight gain.

So which one is your drink of choice?

Eating a plant-based diet improves the health of your gut so you are better able to absorb the nutrients from food that support your immune system and reduce inflammation.

Fiber can lower cholesterol and stabilize blood sugar and it's great for good bowel management.
