The Da Grind trophy just got two new names carved into koa.
Congratulations to Kai Portland Vaa “Strawberry Shortcake” and SOCC “All Beef No Cake” crews — first men’s and first women’s spec canoes to finish the long course, earning their spot on our legendary koa trophy alongside everyone who’s come before them.
This trophy has been passed down and added to for years, and every name on it represents a crew that showed up, put in the work, and crossed that line first. Proud to add two more.
We also want to give a shout out to our other hook award winners:
• First overall short course: Brent Campbell
• First overall SUP: Ahmed Fakhry
• First overall women’s crew: BBOP “Where’s My Ho’s At?”
• First overall all-gender crew: Autumn Rose Canoe Club “Team Baby Soft Hands”
• First overall men’s crew: Kikaha O Ke Kai Outrigger “Masters Men”
