Member Appreciation: Kevin D💪
Kevin has been part of the SSP community for three years, He truly represents Core Value #3: Moving Better = Feeling Better, showing how consistent strength training can positively impact not only physical health, but overall quality of life.
Here’s what Kevin had to say about his experience at SSP:
“I’ve been a member of SSP for three years, and it’s been an incredibly rewarding experience. The personal trainers have played a huge role in helping me fight back from some health challenges and rebuild my strength and confidence, always bringing a high level of knowledge, encouragement, and consistency. I’ve seen steady, meaningful progress over time, and it’s clear they’re genuinely invested in helping each member succeed.
What keeps me coming back is the combination of expert coaching and the overall atmosphere of the gym. SSP stands out as a supportive, judgment-free space with a really friendly atmosphere that makes it a great place to train and stay consistent. The trainers do a great job of meeting you where you are and adapting workouts to fit your needs, which has made all the difference for me. It’s a place where you can focus on getting better, feel supported along the way, and actually enjoy the process.”

April Member Appreciation: Tanner O ⛰️💪
Tanner has been part of our Phinney Ridge community for a year now, and it’s safe to say - SSP is better with him in it. He brings elite energy into every session (and yes… extra points for his music taste 🎶).
Tanner is a perfect example of Core Value #3: Moving Better = Feeling Better. He doesn’t just train for the gym, he trains for life. He has summited Mt. Rainier (twice 😳), & the work he puts in here shows up everywhere else.
Here’s what Tanner had to say about SSP:
“What keeps me coming back to SSP Phinney is the way the training translates so seamlessly into the rest of my life. The coaches have helped revitalize my relationship with functional strength, giving me the confidence and physical durability that carry over directly to my goals, be it climbing mountains, long MTB rides, or hikes of any length. It isn’t just about the hours spent in the gym; The grouped personal training setting allows me to create lasting relationships with the coaches and members and acts as a reliable reset that clears my head after hours of deep technical work. As I transition out of my master’s, back into my career and beyond, I know I can lean on the SSP crew to provide community, pick up the pace, and keep me pushing!”

Jen and Ben are such special additions to the SSP community. From the moment they walked through our doors, they’ve shown up with positive energy, open hearts, and a genuine excitement to be here. They truly embody Core Value #2: Community is Everything, bringing warmth, connection, and encouragement into every session.
Here’s what Ben had to say about his experience at SSP:
“SSP has been exactly what I was looking for in a workout routine. It is structured, tailored to my specific goals, and fun! The coaches are incredibly supportive and provide great feedback to ensure I perform movements correctly and get the most out of my workouts. I also really value the ‘local’ feel of the gym - it’s been great to meet people who live in the neighborhood, which I’ve never gotten from a typical gym setting before.
Since starting at SSP, I’ve seen a significant increase in my stamina and strength, while challenging myself every time I work out. Whether it’s picking up my 18-month-old daughter, walking around Green Lake, or just having more energy throughout the day, the results have been amazing. :)”
And from Jen:
“One of the best decisions I’ve made postpartum: training at SSP! The supportive community and encouraging coaches make every session something I actually look forward to. I love that my workouts are personalized to my needs while training in a space with all different abilities. Watching myself grow stronger, lift heavier, and conquer movements I never thought I could have been such a confidence boost. SSP has made fitness fun, sustainable, and empowering again.”
From a coaching perspective, we couldn’t agree more, Jen and Ben bring such great energy into every session, are always eager to connect with other members, and make the gym feel even more like home. And let’s be honest, having them and their daughter at community events is always a highlight 🥰

❄️ Member Appreciation December: Arissa Peterson & Nick Papa ❄️
Nick and Arissa bring such a special energy to SSP. Together, they truly embody Core Value #1: Strength Training Is for Everybody! Showing that strength looks different for everyone and that consistency, support, and community make all the difference.
Arissa shows up to every session with a smile, an open mind, and a willingness to try anything. Her positive energy is contagious, and she has a natural way of connecting with everyone around her. Whether she’s moving through a tough workout, or chatting about her latest home project, Arissa brings joy, curiosity, and heart into the gym.
Nick is a great example of training with purpose and intention. Earlier this year, he won the Australian Rules Football National Championship, and he continues to put in thoughtful, consistent work to stay competitive against athletes much younger than him. His dedication, coachability, and steady effort are inspiring to both coaches and members alike.
Here’s what Arissa had to say about her SSP experience:
“Since working with SSP, I have noticed an increase in strength, stamina, and overall flexibility. I didn’t have a specific fitness goal in mind when joining other than feeling stronger and having more energy. Now, everyday tasks just seem easier, from carrying groceries from the car, to yardwork or doing housework. I have had some injuries since joining, but the SSP coaches have modified my workouts to meet me where I am at. My favorite thing about SSP is the community and support within the gym. I get to carve out this time during the week to focus on myself, show up, and have the training already planned for me, while socializing with others in a kind and welcoming environment.”

Kathleen shows up for herself with so much intention, joy, and connection every time she steps into SSP. She embodies Core Value #2: Community is Everything - coaches and members empowering each other to become the best versions of ourselves.
Here’s what Kathleen had to say about her SSP experience:
“I love SSP because my only job is to show up for my workout, and every time I leave happier, stronger, and more connected to myself and my community. When I signed up, I was looking for a place with trainers excellent enough that I could trust them to take care of me. And that’s what I’ve found: expert trainers, focused attention to my goals, and a warm community. Since starting at SSP, I’ve been standing up straighter, physically and metaphorically. I’m so grateful to be a part of this gym.”
Coach Dalton says he knew Kathleen would fit right into Phinney Ridge from the moment they met. Her laughter is infectious, her determination inspires everyone around her, and her sessions are the perfect mix of hard work and joyful community.
