On Saturday, Darrius, Leon, and Austin all stepped into the ring and faced some hard moments. Different fights, different outcomes, different lessons - but all part of the same path.

Losses like these don’t erase the work. They expose it. They show you what holds up under pressure, what needs sharpening, and what it actually feels like when there’s nowhere to hide. This has never been about records or perfect outcomes. It’s about who you become in the process - how you respond when things don’t go your way, whether you stay present, and whether you’re willing to keep showing up after it hurts.

We’re proud of all three of them. Proud of the courage it takes to step in, proud of the trust in the process, and proud of the willingness to face the hard parts head-on. We take the lessons, we regroup, and we keep moving forward
 together.

And huge props to Coach Joe for the care, time, and heart you pour into your fighters. We see it, and we appreciate you.

Every year, we present awards to showcase those members who’ve gone above and beyond. Student of the Year goes to those who show up with curiosity, humility, and consistency. Always learning, improving, willing to do the work while support their teammates and lifting up the community. This award is about the process, not the spotlight.

Anton: This kid doesn’t miss a day unless he’s sick or out of town. He shows up, puts the work in without question, and trains with the same intention whether he’s paired with a beginner or someone at his level. Watching his progress over the last year has been incredible.

Jeff: The kind of teammate who will put a choke on you while smiling and making sure it wasn’t too much. He has clear goals and quietly works toward them every day. Head down, consistent, supportive - and we’re always better when Jeff’s in class.

Amos: One of the most resilient humans to come through CAA. Hype man, fighter, training partner, and all-around force of energy. He shows up through everything, brings people with him, and we can’t wait to see what’s next for him.

We couldn’t be prouder to know you, and we love sharing the mats with you.
