Private coaching is where corrections become understanding — and understanding becomes real change.

Guillaume Basso coaches a Primary Advanced dancer through a grand adage at center, working through placement, control, turn out, and counterbalance before she performs the combination again and applies the corrections in real time.

There’s a reason "adage" has always meant so much to us. Carlo Blasis called the ex*****on of adagio “the touchstone of the dancer” — a place where technique, control, artistry, and refinement all have to come together.

That is exactly what private coaching allows us to do: slow down, identify what matters, and give each dancer the individual tools they need to make lasting progress.

Private lesson sign-ups are now open.

At Adage Ballet Academy, dancers can begin as young as age 5 and continue through advanced and pre-professional training within one complete, carefully structured pathway.

Our curriculum is designed to develop more than steps. We teach dancers to understand their technique — building musicality, coordination, strength, artistry, body awareness, and healthy movement habits in a caring, attentive, and joyful environment.

There is still time to join us.

New students may begin through:

• Free trial classes
• Private auditions
• Video auditions
• Private meetings with faculty

Preliminary and Elementary students do not audition.

Whether your dancer is taking their very first ballet class or looking to deepen years of training, we would love to help them find the right place to grow.

Building stronger ballet foundations, one step at a time. 🩰

Our Elementary Tier is designed for dancers ages 7–8 who are ready to move from broad dance foundations into a more structured introduction to classical ballet.

Through floor barre, elementary technique, conditioning, composition, and play studies, students develop coordination, musicality, strength, placement, confidence, and a deeper understanding of how ballet works.

Previous dance experience is recommended, but not required. Placement is determined through a trial class so each dancer can begin in the environment that best supports their growth.

Elementary students train three times per week and are included in performance opportunities throughout the year, while families stay connected through regular observation days.

Artistic Director Abby Jayne DeAngelo 🎀αвву ʝαуиє ∂єαиgєℓσ🎀 demonstrates transfer turns on the diagonal during a special class focused entirely on the turning quality of movement in ballet. 🩰

There are so many different ways to turn, and we spent the day exploring rotation, control, coordination, and power — including a special twisting-focused yoga practice to help dancers find the torque and mobility behind the movement.

It has been such a wonderful week welcoming dancers into our brand-new studios, and we can’t wait for one final evening of the Pre-Season Conditioning Workshop tonight. ✨

No need to go pro to deserve professional training. 🩰

At Adage Ballet Academy, we believe every dancer deserves the highest quality education in the art form — regardless of whether their goal is a professional career, stronger technique, greater confidence, or simply a deeper love of dance.

Good training gives students more than steps. It develops placement, coordination, strength, body awareness, and technical proficiency, while helping dancers build healthier movement habits that can support them for years to come.

Our Preparatory and Primary Tiers are designed for dancers who want to train with greater understanding, care, and purpose.

Our scheduled audition date has passed, but there are still several ways to join us before the 2026–27 season begins September 9:

• Private auditions
• Video auditions
• Free trial classes

If you’re ready to deepen your training and pursue the best possible experience in ballet, we’d love to meet you.

Why not turn center work into choreography? 🩰

Such a fun class last night during our Pre-Season Conditioning Workshop with choreographer Guillaume Basso, linking together the dancers’ center exercises into one long, variation-style combination.

A great way to challenge memory, musicality, coordination, stamina, and artistry all at once.

Great work, dancers! ✨

Where ballet begins. 🩰

Our Preliminary Tier is designed for young dancers ages 5–6 taking their first steps into ballet — with no previous dance experience and no audition required.

At this age, we focus on much more than learning steps. Through joyful, age-appropriate classes, children begin developing coordination, musicality, posture, placement, memory, expression, confidence, and healthy movement habits that will support them as they grow.

Classes meet twice a week and include introductory ballet technique, floor barre, conditioning, composition, and imaginative movement studies.

Preliminary students also have opportunities to perform and families are invited to regular observation days throughout the year, helping parents stay connected to their child’s progress.

A little look through the looking glass at our new home at Lucymont E.P.A.C. ✨

These photos were taken during our Open House, and somehow the building has already changed even more since then. Our sprung studio floors in the former church are going in as we speak, and each day brings us one step closer to the finished vision.

We wanted Lucymont to feel more than functional. We wanted it to feel spacious, bright, welcoming, and comfortable — a place where dancers can train seriously, but where families also feel relaxed spending time.

From Studio Adagio and its parent observation lounge, to our library filled with books and comfortable seating for both students and parents, to the long hallway connecting the many spaces that support academy life, every room is beginning to find its purpose.

There is still so much ahead, but it is incredibly special to see this place becoming home.
