Your neck did not get this way on its own. Your desk helped.😣

👀Here is something we see every single day in Pioneer Square.

🧑🏻‍💻Someone walks in from a nearby office, an architecture firm, a startup, a corporate floor upstairs, and before they have even taken off their shoes, their shoulders are already living somewhere forward of their ears.

That is not a character flaw. 😮‍💨That is eight hours of sitting, staring into screens and low-grade stress bracing, and virtually everyone in this neighborhood arrives with some version of this posture.

The good news is that body tension is a habit, not a permanent condition. 💓Some of the earliest work we do with a new client doesn't feel like a workout right away. It is about learning to stop fighting your own body long enough to notice what it is doing.🧘🏻

If you want a to get a Pilates flow workout, the first thing you need to do is learn how to feel and control your alignment as you move. 🤸

💯Once the neck and shoulders let go, people often feel their core for the first time.

Comment with a single word for how your neck and shoulders feel right now. 👇

💪We are fascinated by muscle. We rarely talk about the importance of resilience in muscle building.

Most fitness conversations reduce strength to two things: force and endurance. How much can you lift, and how long can you go.
Both are real. Both are also limited without something underneath them.🌲

🩵As Christl Marcontell, Founder and Studio Master Teacher of Kinesia Pilates, shared in our recent spotlight interview with Fitness Living Magazine™,

"Resilience is really what gives the body the ability to sustain or develop greater force, greater endurance, and ultimately greater agility and adaptability too."

That is why resilience is the foundation of everything taught in our Pioneer Square studio, not an afterthought once the strength work is done.🌊

A resilient body moves through stress instead of bottling things up. You can handle a long flight, a heavy week, repetitive movement in a sport you love. 🚴Your body can move in every direction daily life asks of it, not just the one you have trained in strength building reps.🏃🏋🏻⛹🏼‍♀️🏌🏿

Strength you can feel is good. Resilience is the foundation that allows strength to grow and last. That's the kind of strength I'm interested in helping people build.

Fitness Living Magazine™ explored why we build resilience first in their spotlight feature on our studio: https://fitnesslivingmagazine.com/kinesia-pilates-seattle-review

There is a specific exhale that happens about four steps inside our door. 😮‍💨 You know the one.

You come off the street, still carrying the meeting that ran long, the email you did not answer, the noise of downtown Seattle at five in the afternoon.🥵

🕊️And then the door closes behind you, and the ceilings are high, and the space is open, and the mural on the back wall is that particular pale blue that seems to lower the volume on everything. 🩵🩵🩵

Somewhere around the fourth step, your shoulders drop about an inch. You breathe out..😌

🌬️That exhale is not an accident. It is the entire reason the studio looks and feels the way it does.

Christl Marcontell, Founder and Studio Master Teacher of Kinesia Pilates, built this space so that people could step out of the chaos of the day, both the good chaos and the bad, into somewhere quieter.☺️

🧘🏻The work starts before the first exercise does.🩵

🫶Share this with someone in Seattle who needs a quiet hour to focus on there own physical and mental wellness during the week.

Nobody arrives here by accident. 😊

💯 Everyone who walks through our door in Pioneer Square arrives carrying a reason.

For some, it is a lower back that has been complaining for years. For some, it is posture🏌️‍♀️or neck pain, or a foot 🦶that never fully recovered from something.

For some, it is the opposite. They are strong, they train hard and they have started to notice that strength in one direction is not the same as being capable in all of them.🚴 They want a challenge that takes them in new directions.🤸🏻‍♂️

🫶And for some, it is simply that they want to feel at home in their own body again.🙌

Everyone comes from a different place. Everyone has had different physical experiences. That is why we start by finding out where you actually are rather than making assumptions.👂

We would like to know where you are.

Tell us: What are you carrying in your body today? Back pain, posture alignment issues, athletic recovery, core imbalances, a way to burn off stress, or something else entirely. 💓We read every one.👇

Starting you Pilates practice here does not begin with a workout. It begins with a conversation. 🗣️📲

🤨People often assume that walking into a Pilates studio means immediately getting on a machine and hoping for the best.
That is not how it works at Kinesia Pilates.

Every new client is welcome to begin with a free 15-minute consultation.😊 You come in, you see the studio, you ask questions, and we talk about your movement history, any injuries, your schedule, and what you are actually hoping to feel in your body.💯

🤝If you are ready to begin, we offer an introductory series of three private lessons. Those first sessions are one-on-one, hands-on, and tailored to your body rather than to a generic beginner template.🤸🏻‍♂️

If you already have some Pilates background and prefer classes, there is an intro three-class option as well.🙌

💖There is a path in regardless of where you are starting from.

Pilates was a person. He built a fitness system of more than five hundred unique exercises. 🤩

Most people hear "Pilates" and picture one reformer, one type of class, and one type of body. The classical system is considerably larger than that and good for ALL types of bodies! 💪Joseph Pilates developed hundreds of exercises across a full range of apparatus, each piece designed to challenge and support all bodies differently, as unique as you are. 💯

At Kinesia Pilates, our instructors are certified through the Romana's Pilates International Instructor Training Program, the classical lineage carried forward by Romana Kryzanowska, 💖 who trained directly with Joseph Pilates for many years and was his protegee. Our studio is equipped with the full range of apparatus, using Gratz Pilates equipment, widely considered the gold standard for classical work.🥇

🌟Why does the lineage matter? Because comprehensive training teaches an instructor to look at your body, understand what it is actually doing, and adjust in real time. Not run you through a sequence.
That is the difference between doing Pilates and being taught Pilates👏

Curious which apparatus you would start on? Send us a message and we will walk you through it. 📲

There is no parking lot. There is a very good two-block walk.🚍🚶‍➡️

😅We will be honest with you about something small.

Kinesia Pilates sits in Pioneer Square, which means street parking and a garage two blocks away. 🚘We know that is not the most convenient thing about us.

But here is what nobody tells you about those two blocks. 😊You pass cafes and bookstores. ☕️📚You pass art galleries. 🎨You pass old brick buildings with more character than most of Seattle put together. And by the time you reach our door, something has already started to slow down.💖

Then you step inside, and the ceilings are high, the light is soft, and the noise of the city stops at the threshold.😌

🙏Two blocks turns out to be exactly the right amount of transition between your day and your session.

Some of our clients have told us they would not want it any other way.😊

😻Tell us in the comments: what is the best cafe or gallery on the walk to our door? We are always looking for a new recommendation. 👇

Our Pioneer Square studio was just profiled by Fitness Living Magazine™.

We are proud to share that Kinesia Pilates has been featured in Fitness Living Magazine™'s Local Fitness Leadership Series.

The feature takes readers inside our Pioneer Square studio and explains what we actually do here: classical Romana's Pilates taught across the full range of apparatus, MELT Method self-care, and small, personalized instruction built around structural resilience rather than surface-level results.

It covers our teaching standard, the calm space beneath the crane mural, the clients we work with from their late teens into their eighties, and the philosophy that Christl Marcontell, Founder and Studio Master Teacher of Kinesia Pilates, has been refining for more than two decades.

This was not something we wrote about ourselves. It was written about us. That is exactly why we are sharing it.
If you have ever walked past our storefront and wondered what happens inside, this article is the clearest answer we could give you.

Happy Mothers Day everyone! I am so grateful to share work and play with my mom. All of my life she has insisted on independent thinking and pursuing personal growth as a lifestyle.

When we work together I hear her teaching her clients the same qualities in how to listen to their bodies and seek self-awareness in what they are doing.

Thank you mom for planting the seeks so that we can bloom! 🌸
