Veteran technical official Chalem Prayat-sap says Muaythai bouts will become more exciting after Rajadamnern Stadium introduced a ban on passive movement, or “dancing,” in the fifth round.

The rule takes effect on May 1 and applies to all events at the venue. Fighters who avoid engagement in the final round will face penalties ranging from warnings and point deductions to purse cuts or disqualification.
Chalem noted the rule has already been used in Rajadamnern World Series (RWS) bouts and should now be enforced across all promotions. He emphasized that judges must assess fights round by round, with greater focus on effective striking rather than relying on late-round impressions.

He also acknowledged the long-standing influence of gambling in five-round fights, which often leads to slower early pacing. In contrast, shorter formats like Rajadamnern Knockout tend to produce more immediate action.

“With this rule, I’m confident fights will be more exciting,” Chalem said, adding that round-by-round scoring will ensure transparency without post-fight adjustments.

Thailand’s Minister of Tourism and Sports, Surasak Phancharoenworakul, announced on April 22 that the government is preparing to review its 60-day visa-free entry scheme for foreign visitors following concerns over inappropriate behavior by some tourists.

He stated that part of the issue has been linked to travelers entering Thailand under the visa exemption program. As a result, authorities are considering scrapping the 60-day visa-free stay for all countries and reverting to country-specific visa requirements. The government is also exploring the possibility of introducing new visa formats better suited to current conditions in the future.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already held discussions on the matter, and the proposal is expected to be submitted to the Cabinet for consideration soon. Since the visa exemption policy was originally approved by Cabinet resolution, any revisions must go through the same process.

Officials emphasized that any adjustments to visa policies will require careful evaluation, including documentation requirements, sources of funds, and supporting financial evidence, to ensure compliance with existing regulations.

Top Sangmorakot, head of Sangmorakot Muay Thai Academy, has confirmed that Supachailek has been dismissed from the camp following his controversial loss at the Petchyindee Muay Thai Premium event on March 12.

He stated that the decision was made in line with the gym’s long-standing principles — established since his father’s era — of sending fighters to compete with full commitment. Performances that lead to public criticism or doubt are not tolerated, and there will be no second chances.

Top admitted his disappointment over the incident, noting that it reflected poorly on the gym. He added that regardless of whether the fighter was carrying an injury, the matter had been carefully considered, and the decision was made to part ways and send the fighter home.

He reaffirmed that Sangmorakot Gym will continue to uphold its values of producing fighters who compete with full effort and integrity.

After Rodtang Jitmuangnon announced on his personal Facebook that his contract with ONE Championship has officially expired, he confirmed there are no issues between both sides and that negotiations for a new deal are ongoing.

Importantly, his upcoming rematch against Japanese superstar Takeru Segawa for the ONE Interim Flyweight Kickboxing World Title (135 lbs) at ONE Samurai on April 29 in Japan will still proceed, as it is a special bout outside of his expired contract.

Rodtang also stated that any promoters, sponsors, or partners interested in working with him should contact his coordinators — “Yim” and Santi.

This has sparked curiosity among fans:
Is “Yim” the same person who manages Muay Thai legend Buakaw Banchamek?

Yes — it is the same person.

“Yim,” also known as Theerawat Yuiyim, is a well-known figure among longtime fight fans. He was once a physiotherapist at Por Pramuk Gym, Buakaw’s former camp, before playing a key role in Buakaw’s dramatic departure from the gym — a story that made national headlines at the time.

Since then, Buakaw has built a global brand under the name Buakaw Banchamek, with Yim serving as both manager and strategist behind the scenes.

Now, Yim has resurfaced — this time as Rodtang’s coordinator. Whether this partnership will lead to a major shift in Rodtang’s career remains to be seen. With Yim’s history, fans are watching closely to see what unfolds next — and whether the highly anticipated rematch with Takeru will go ahead as planned.

Num Fight Club has issued a statement addressing the altercation at a recent ONE Championship event, denying that his side initiated the incident.

He clarified that while he is not the owner of NF Looksuan Gym, he has long been closely associated with the camp. He stated that the confrontation occurred in a venue and event he deeply respects, emphasizing that violence outside the rules has no place in professional Muaythai.

According to Num, individuals from his side were not responsible for starting the conflict and had no intention of escalating the situation. Upon learning of the incident, he said he chose to pursue legal action rather than respond emotionally, citing a desire to protect not only those involved but also the standards and image of the sport.

He added that the matter is now under legal review, with any video evidence to be handled by authorities. Eyewitnesses, he said, will provide factual accounts in due course.

Num also questioned whether the actions of those involved were consistent with the values and discipline expected in the sport, particularly at a global-level event.

In response to a public challenge from a world champion fighter, he stated he would be willing to compete under proper rules and in an appropriate setting, reiterating his support for competition within the ring rather than violence outside of it.

A violent altercation broke out between members of two Muaythai camps during a recent ONE Championship event on Friday the 20th, according to accounts from those involved.

Prajanchai PK Saenchai, a leading fighter from PK Saenchai Gym, stated that he and Trainer Wang were inside the locker room when the owner of NF Looksuan Gym and his son entered and confronted the trainer. Prajanchai claimed the pair had prior disputes with both himself and Trainer Wang, and described the confrontation as intentional.

The situation quickly escalated into a physical fight between Trainer Wang and the gym owner. Although the owner’s eldest son initially appeared to intervene, Prajanchai alleged that he instead joined the altercation, resulting in what he described as a group assault on Trainer Wang.

Prajanchai said he stepped in to assist and struck the eldest son with a punch to the chin before officials intervened and separated the parties.

Following the incident, Num Fight Club publicly claimed that a group assault had taken place at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium and stated that legal action had been initiated, with CCTV footage expected to be released.

Prajanchai dismissed those claims, arguing that the opposing camp initiated the confrontation and that Trainer Wang was the one attacked. He also criticized Num Fight Club for commenting despite not being present, and called for the immediate release of video evidence.

In subsequent live broadcasts, Prajanchai reiterated that his side acted in self-defense, challenged his opponents to a direct confrontation, and continued to accuse NF Looksuan Gym of instigating the incident. He further alleged that individuals associated with the camp attempted to provoke another confrontation after the initial clash, though it did not escalate further.

Additionally, Prajanchai raised allegations regarding questionable financial backing linked to NF Looksuan Gym, calling on authorities to investigate.

As of now, NF Looksuan Gym has not issued an official response to the allegations.

Thailand’s national Muay Thai governing body has been officially renamed following royal approval, marking a significant milestone for the sport.

The organization, formerly known as the Amateur Muay Thai Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage, will now operate as the Muay Thai Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage. The new name has been formally registered by the Sports Authority of Thailand and took effect on March 12, 2026.

From this point forward, all domestic and international Muay Thai activities, events, and competitions under the authority of the Sports Authority of Thailand will be conducted under the association’s new title.

The association was originally granted royal patronage on November 11, 2001, during the tenure of King Maha Vajiralongkorn as Crown Prince. Its naming structure was later adjusted in line with the 2015 Sports Authority of Thailand Act, which standardized the use of “of Thailand” in national sports association titles.

Association president Dr. Sakchai Tapsuwan described the royal renaming as the highest honor for both the organization and the Muay Thai community, reaffirming its commitment to further developing and promoting the sport at both national and global levels.

Atchariya Rueangrattanapong, promoter of the Top Fairy Gym promotion, has alleged that fighters are being drugged as part of fight-fixing operations, claiming one of his own boxers, Saensuek Sor. Ratchaphum, was targeted.

Atchariya said Saensuek—normally a strong and well-conditioned fighter—experienced unusual symptoms before a recent bout, including urinating three times prior to entering the ring, leaving him physically weakened. The boxer was later taken to hospital for examination, raising suspicions of possible drugging.

He described such acts as equivalent to attempted murder, claiming the substances involved may be sourced from psychiatric medications. According to Atchariya, fighters who refuse to throw bouts risk being targeted, with perpetrators allegedly operating around fighter corners and dressing rooms.

Atchariya directly accused an individual known as “Phayakrut,” described as a gym owner with fighters in southern Thailand, of orchestrating fight-fixing and hiring boxers to lose, allegedly with backing from regional investors. He added that Phayakrut had previously been associated with Hia Tee T-ded99 but was dismissed from the camp due to being considered a dangerous figure within the Muaythai community.

He said he is compiling evidence and warned those involved to cease their actions or face exposure. Atchariya also referenced other alleged cases, including fights at Channel 7, claiming he possesses video evidence yet to be made public.

Calling on officials and stakeholders across the sport, Atchariya urged increased vigilance, stressing that Muaythai must be upheld with fairness, honor, and integrity.
