Concussion Prevention and Concussion Recovery are both hugely important to our family and our teams. Once an athlete has a concussion, it is our experience with one of our kiddos, that it became easier and easier to get subsequent concussions.
Follow-up - To the event mentioned in Reel:
We messaged the parents of our player and provided them some resources that we as coaches have had training on, so that they would be in a better position to have an informed, collective, and productive conversation with their child and their child's school coach. The information in this reel, is based on US Youth Soccer Club guidance, specific school sport guidance could not be found, at time of publishing... only guidance to support school athletes in concussion recovery.

Tonight I'm reminded of this.... A small house makes the everyday mess and clutter that much more... and honestly, if it weren't for the help of an amazing Grandma, I would likely be struggling even more than I naturally am, to keep our active family organized.
We aren't picture perfect, our home is very much lived and loved in... and rarely are we all camera ready... but our home and family are real.
We build, nurture & celebrate authentic connections. We strive to provide a place of safety to be one's self, to all our family and friends. No masking necessary....
At the end of a long day, giving folks we love (adults and kids alike) the gift to be themselves in our home, is an ongoing labor of love that I'm most proud and humbled by.

Look around your sideline this weekend... Those folks... might just be the family friendships you dreamed of in this busy ‘youth sports’ phase of life.
I hope you are as lucky as we are... in that some of those friendships, including the husbands, and a whole gaggle of kiddos... become the teammates you didn’t know you needed... just as much as you wanted!

As a fire wife, who has been with her husband longer than his service to the fire department.... as a couple, we knowingly and collectively made the choice to embrace fire life and fire family.
We understand the risk, & accept the sacrifice that he may be called to make... we choose this life of service.
May we always honor the memory of those lives lost and their families' strength in the worst of times. May we always remember communities united and continue to check in on our neighbors and loved ones.
