I've been very outspoken in my criticism of the baseball showcase industry as a direct contributor to the escalating injury rates we're seeing in young players. And thanks to this study, we have some even more eye-opening data that demonstrates this trend. And keep in mind that there is an element of "survivorship bias" in play here; most of the players who got injured never made it to the top 5 rounds of the MLB draft.
We're seeing players participate in more showcases, and they're doing so at younger ages. That's a bad combination.

NON-NUTRITIVE SWEETENERS DON'T MAKE YOU CRAVE MORE SWEETS.
This is from the April 2020 issue of the Weightology Research Review. I reviewed a study that looked at the impacts of stevia beverage consumption prior to lunch on appetite and calorie intake.
Rather than enhancing appetite or "sweet tooth", stevia resulted in a tendency for a lower appetite and calorie intake at lunch.
This is consistent with other studies on non-nutritive sweeteners (aspartame, sucralose, etc) in general. The vast majority of studies show they help reduce calorie intake and do NOT increase appetite or cravings for sweets.
They can be an important tool in the fat loss toolbox.
For a more detailed analysis of this study and other studies (we review 6-8 studies per month, and you get access to all archived back content including video reviews), check out the Weightology Research Review.

Over the years my views on conditioning have changed pretty drastically.
I think running or skating players at the end of practice is just asking for trouble.
The greatest ability is availability. Kids hobbling around with sore groins and hamstring don’t tend to perform well in games.
Conditioning should come from well designed practices not from some end of practice foolishness out of Miracle or The Junction Boys.
Now that we know better we need to do better.

Subscapularis 101
The subscapularis is the largest of the four rotator cuff muscles, but it might also be the most misunderstood. With that in mind, I thought I’d use today’s video as a chance to bring y…
