As you may be aware, Lincoln High School plans to add a soccer field to Lower Woodland Park. Under their preferred plan, "Option A", the new field will be pushed up directly against the skate park walls. The change will remove all open space around the skate park and overcrowd the skate park with people overflowing from the athletic fields.
Option A will also cut off access to the skate park from the east (Tangletown and Wallingford). SPS claims that people can walk across the synthetic turf sidelines of the new fields, but they have no plan to keep those sidelines clear of equipment and kids. Further, dogs won't be allowed access at all, and the access will be unsafe for any vulnerable populations.
We are advancing Option C for the new field, which maintains and enhances all spacing and access paths into the park. Could we enlist your support? You can see details and graphics on our petition website, here:

Project Manager for Bothell Skatepark
1. Primary role will be fundraising, grant writing, sponsorships, etc. for approximately 500-950K in additional investment monies to complete the project. . Northshore Rotary is our partner as a 501(c)(3) and the account has a current balance of about 94K with a matching pledge of 500K.
2. Arrange for monthly zoom meetings from 6 - 7:30 pm on the first Tuesday of each month. BSP committee member Bernie Duerr will send out zoom meeting requests. The monthly meetings will be in person and zoom on a quarterly basis at McMenamins including the upcoming dates:
- Tuesday, July 1, 2025
- Tuesday, November 4, 2025

3. Create an Agenda for each meeting and send to the BSP Committee one week before the regular meetings to review.
4. Contact key constituents in a timely manner to keep the positive momentum going forward.

5. Plan on committing approximately 6 hours per week. Salary has been $35/hour plus approved expenses (typically mileage, incidentals, etc.).
6. Work productively and cooperatively with other BSP Committee members and organize and lead each of the meetings.
7. Provide input to Bothell City Council and Consultants regarding skatepark necessities.
8. Send pertinent information dealing with the latest skatepark trends to the BSP Committee regularly.
9. Work with Bothell City Council and Park and Recreation to help initiate and follow the project timetable. The skatepark design should be completed by late summer or fall 2025, the permits addressed in 2026 and the actual construction beginning in 2027.
