Brake Director is now closed as of today. I want thank everyone that has supported us for all these years.
It has been so long since I posted that I would not be surprised. There was an episode of Shark Tank where these 2 guys rolled out a bike with SURE STOP installed, It applies the back brake before the front brake. The interesting thing is we tested that option years ago in development. What happens is the back brake pad wears out faster than the front brake pad. If you do not monitor and change brake pads, then the stopping power will eventually move to the front brake. In an emergency the possibility...
One more item. We are waiting for these 2 spec unit to show up for testing, and a licensing deal may be in our future. Stay tuned....
We were just contacted by a friend that found a patented braking system called Sure Shot. It applies the back brake, then the front. The interesting thing is that we tested that very option and brake pad wear, along with other issues, we found that equal stopping power gave the balance and stopping power to insure that you have full control over your brakes. We will look into this product, but there a lot of braking systems out there, even on Amazon. The amazing thing is even now we are still being found by customers.
Where they may have succeeded is getting it licensed, but our patent is out there. Stay tuned.
It has been more than a year. In fact until yesterday, I had not been on my bicycle or any bicycle for 18 months. Why? Back in December a year ago, we had sales for Christmas. We had sales in November and January and February of 2015. We needed the Unit 3 off my bicycle to complete a sale.
We talked about purchasing a lighter bicycle. Months go by. We cannot find a frame to fit. So Sunday I pick up my reassembled bicycle from the shop with Version 4 of Brake Director. I took it for a Test ride yesterday.
I ride in Myrtle Edwards Park where you can ride without traffic and get your legs tested. It is 5 miles round trip. The trip out had a tail wind and everything worked perfectly. Then on the return trip...
The left pedal and crank fell off. This has never happened to me, but under normal setup, it's a crash . I yanked Brake Director and securely stopped in 3 feet. Someone came up and asked if I was okay. I looked behind me and saw the crank and pedal behind me on the path. I got off my bicycle, picked it up and put it in my pack. Then I walked my bicycle the mile and a half back to my car.
There were reasons this happened I figure there may be bicycle riders who have had this happen to them.. I won't explain why this happened here, but the bottom line is that Brake Director prevented me from losing control of my bicycle. Without it, I would have crashed and definitely injured myself.
This site does not get the updates on a steady basis. There were some issues that are not useful in sharing here. But this incident brings the reason for Brake Director into focus, We invented Brake Director to sell to the Disabled Rider. As we built and tested versions we learned that there is a specific market for the regular rider and child. We have never really tapped into the Regular Rider market to date. We have sold all over the world in the past 12 years.
So here's what we are looking to do going forward. We have been getting the parts manufactured and then assembled them in house. But to increase inventory and to make it easier on ourselves, we are looking into manufacture and assembly by fabrication. We have been and still are Made In America.
We are a small business. We stand behind our product. There are shadows products out there making the same claims. It's not the same. You sacrifice nothing with Brake Director. It is the Real One-Hand Solution for Bicycles.
Version 4 is ready. It is smaller than Version 3, less parts, easier to install and same great power. We will be hiring a Public Relations firm to market this new version across the country. BTW asan added bonus we have sold units in January and February - so this bodes well for this upcoming season.

Oaky this is a wild one. I just took the Executive Director of the School of Drama at the University of Washington. We went to Boston University together. She googled my name and there was too much to read through. Today I went looking myself and found that a video from almost 2 years ago interviewing myself and David Hawkins about Brake Director.
Take a look for yourselves. The BBQ was a bust, but this is one of the best introductions we could imagine. Enjoy.

It has been so long since I wrote anything here. Let me update. I have been working on a Sword play for the last 3 month , finished SIFF and Count Night for the FOOLS Serious group, but for Brake Director, we are in the final negotiations to set up our manufacturing in Portland. We continue to get orders from around the world. We got an order from New Zealand last weekend. We will ship it it our Monday or Tuesday. We will have more news soon.
We have a little more than a day left on our Kickstarter Project. Short of a major influx of pledges, we will not reach our goal. As we stated in our project. there is always a risk. We have generated more like in this 30 days for this project than we have here. I are planning to post a project of my own. We have gained a lot of insight and learned what works and what doesn't. I want to personally thank everyone that has followed us on this adventure. You never win all the battles. Brake Director is a product that served the disabled rider, allowing them to ride and brake on a bicycle with total confidence. We still need $10,000 to use and order units from this new manufacturer. We looking into reposting on Kickstarter and on a site called Fund Anything. Stay tuned...
