The Auxiliary was created by an Act of Congress in 1939, and has grown to over 32,000 members who daily support the Coast Guard in all its non-military, and non-law-enforcement missions. Coastie the tug boat, a remote controlled boat by the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, entertains Boy Scouts at the U.S. Coast Guard element of the Armed Forces Adventure Area during the 2010 National Scout Jamboree held here. The scouts enjoyed a variety of attractions provided by the Coast Guard, which were part of Joint Task Force National Scout Jamboree.
