Created in 2009, UG smashed into the club season and, in its first year, narrowly missed a bid to nationals. The 2010 and 2011 seasons were a similar story. In 2012, UG made big moves. “And live from Seattle, it’s Saturday night!🎷🎶” was how this beautiful season started, on a Saturday in May 2023. From day 1 to day 141, we grew together, we became ants and worms, we wore cute tees, we learned systems and plays, practiced them till it was dark and the mosquitoes were out. We sprinted around tracks and pushed each other so hard at practice, trying to make it harder than a game. We jumped in lakes and hung out together and attended other sporting events and built relationships deeper than even the underground. Thankful to be in this space together, to be in the company of the other amazing women’s division teams in the always challenging Northwest region, always learning and growing from each other.
