One West is a competitive team based out of Dragon Zone Paddling Club in Vancouver. We aim to develop passionate, up-and-coming paddlers into national and international calibre athletes. As the 2013 National Champions, One West proudly represented Canada at the 2014 IDBF Club Crew World Championships in Ravenna, Italy, taking home two gold and two silver medals. M

With training week over, our athletes are traveling to Kunming, China today to represent Canada at the 13th International Dragon Boat Federation (IDBF) World Nations Championships. We want to wish the entire Canadian National team the best of luck! We are also very proud of Carolyn, Erin, James, Jessy, Shamus, Shane, and Ryan who will represent One West at Worlds!

One West, above all, is and has always been about family - about dedication to each other; about racing with integrity and measuring success in more than just medals. We’re so proud of our 2017 crew and how far we have come together while staying true to our roots. It was a beautiful end to the Concord Pacific Vancouver DB Festival, to this season, and to an incredible seven year journey.
Seven years ago, the field of competition in Vancouver looked drastically different. As a brand new team of scrawny youngsters, we stood amongst (to us) giants of the paddling world: veteran paddlers with a world of experience we had yet to learn. But we believed in ourselves; believed that despite our inexperience, we could build our team from within and our hard work and dedication to each other would pay off. As we look across the finish line of the closest final we have ever raced in, we see that same spirit reflected in many more teams around us and could not be more proud to be a part of it all.
To our supporters, friends, and family around the world - thank you! We truly could not have come this far without you. Our family of athletes, coaches, and race directors are as involved as ever in the sport and will continue to contribute and give back wherever we can to the community that has given us a lifetime of great memories. This may have been the final race for One West, the dragon boat team, but the paddlers of One West are still here.
So instead of saying goodbye, we'll just say... see you around. ;)

In 2011, a group of paddlers shared the dream of making the National Under-23 roster to represent Canada at the IDBF World Championships. With this collective goal in mind, One West was formed to unify those individuals and provide a place for young paddlers with big dreams to grow. Over the past seven years, we have welcomed many members to our ever-growing family, all the while striving to stay true to the original One West spirit and philosophy.
This year’s Concord Pacific Vancouver Dragon Boat Festival will mark our last race together as One West. We are humbled and grateful to be part of this amazing dragon boat community. We have made many great friends in Vancouver and all around the world. Thank you to everyone who has supported us and cheered us on throughout our journey. Rather than saying goodbye, we want to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Hope to see you all this weekend! ❤
