Around mid-January I decided I wanted to start playing hockey. My pal offered to take me to public skate, and after some fantastic pointers and trying his skates, I fell hard and fast for hockey.

And by hard and fast I mean, I signed up for Learn to Skate and Learn to Play within a week. I went on the hunt for all the gear. All the sudden I was spending more time at the rink than lifting weights. I have learned more about my mind and body in the past 2 to 2.5 months than I have in a long time. It has brought me so much joy.

Last Saturday, I got to play in my first game thanks to I fell even more in love with game. My teammates and folks on the other teams made it a very welcoming, kind, and enjoyable learning experience. The other team even named me Outstanding Player.

At 39.5 years young, I’m feeling on top of the world. I can’t thank everyone enough for the love and support as I have jumped in with both feet and my entire soul into the game of hockey. Sports save Iives my friends, no matter the age.

Movement. Strength. Confidence.

I love movement. It makes me feel like the best version of me and being able to teach, guide, and collaborate with others is the best.

Visibility alone is nothing. We need action. Here are 6 ways you can TAKE ACTION today on Trans Day of Visibility:

IMPORTANT NOTES:
1. Anyone in any state can tell a governor to veto. Call national attention to the issue.
2. If you call, you will not speak directly to a governor (or even your lawmaker) - you’ll speak with an aide or leave a message. Say your name, where you’re from, the bill number & your position, & how you want them to vote.
3. Most governors do not use a public email address, opting instead for web forms. Similar to calling, be brief but add personal notes & use the same info as you would for calling.
4. If writing, you don’t need to do it every day - but you should do it TODAY.

🚨ALABAMA: Tell Governor Kay Ivey to VETO HB266 & SB184, the felony health care bans.

🚨KANSAS: Tell Governor Laura Kelly to VETO SB484, an anti-trans sports ban.

🚨KENTUCKY: Tell Governor Andy Beshear to VETO SB83, an anti-trans sports ban.

🚨MISSOURI: Tell lawmakers to vote NO on SB781 (athlete ban) & SB843 (healthcare ban).

🚨SOUTH CAROLINA: Tell lawmakers to vote NO on S531 & H4608.

🚨EVERYONE:
1. Share these action items
2. Visit transathlete.com/take-action to see the anti-trans sports & medical bills in your state & action items.
3. Donate to trans-led organizations like .ar (link in my bio)

Please celebrate by taking action today.

Recording videos!! This one shows a snippet of Hip CARS!

When I started recording myself four or five years ago I avoided it as much as possible. Now, as I continue to learn and grow personally and professionally I’m running from it less.

I’m stoked I have stuck with it and I am looking forward to what is next 🎥

It is with the saddest of hearts that we post today about the passing last week of Bruce Caplin, with his wife by his side. Many of you may have met him in person through his work as volunteer, fosterer, adoption rep or Secretary of GPAGNW. If you did not have the pleasure of meeting Bruce, then you would have been touched from afar as he was also the mastermind behind all things social media for the group. His contributions (and dry sense of humor) to GPAGNW and the hounds were enormous and will be sorely missed.

From Bruce’s wife, Rhonda…

To say that I am devastated would be an understatement, but I am so very grateful for the greyhound community and all the love and support that Zappa, Wiggy & myself have received. If it weren’t for the greyhounds, we would not have met so many wonderful people. Many of which have become more like family than friends – they simply bring us together and make us better human beings.

Words cannot even begin to express Bruce’s love and passion for these beautiful creatures. His dedication to their well-being came first and foremost. He always made himself available regardless of the time of day or night to offer support. Be it about greyhound behavior or health – he was a wealth of knowledge, unselfishly and willing to share.

Bruce touched so many, 2-legged humans and 4-legged greyhounds, and his legacy is in these hounds. If you would like to honor his legacy, please consider a donation to GPAGNW, the organization that he poured his heart and soul into.

With deepest gratitude,
Rhonda, Zappa & Wiggy
