Amnesty has arrived at Blake Island
I went on "walkabout" after a short nap. Here are some photos from Blake Island. This is one of my most favorite places in the world.
The marina is filling fast. 4 boats in the last 10 minutes.

Amnesty on the move....
After a frustrating few weeks solving an engine overheat issue....Amnesty is on the move again.
The Weather Gods are smiling on me today. Its 55 degrees, scattered clouds, 6 kts of wind and I am running with the tide.
There is a yacht club rally in Kingston tomorrow. I am going to lay over at Blake Island so I don't have to make the whole trip in one shot.
This is sailing.

This is sailing....should I stay, or should I go
I'm at Blake Island, looking at the weather forecast to determine when / if I should make the hop back to Tacoma.
The screenshots are from two different forecast models on the same app at the same timeframe. Amnesty is the white dot and my destination is the green dot. One model shows 9 knots of wind and the other shows 20 knots at the same position.
They both agree that it will be calm tomorrow. So, I decided to play it safe.

Went for a hike around the island during a weather break with Dave Dave Dumont this afternoon.
Heading back to Tacoma in the morning.

There is big wind in the forecast between here and Tacoma tomorrow. I am going to hunker down here for a day or two.

Happy New Year !!!
Amnesty has arrived in Port Townsend. Victoria was fantastic.
I planed on staying in Victoria until the 3rd. However, there is some nasty weather rolling in. My choice was leave early or get stuck there until the 6th.
SV Afterglow followed me out and we are now secured at Port Hudson marina in Port Townsend. We arrived at 2 pm and set up the Big "O" Genius Consortium Propane Tank Portable Fire Pit 2.0 on the shore.
We grilled shrimp and andouille sausage and listened to music as the sun set.
This is sailing...

The crew of SV Afterglow arrived in Victoria afer an easy passage from Port Townsend.
After they got the boat secured, we went out for dinner and drinks to an Irish Pub a few blocks from the marina.
A great time was had by all....

Amnesty had arrived in Victoria just a few hours ago.
It was a pretty easy passage. A fair breeze on the stern and I practically sailed all the way into the harbor. One of the things I like about Sequim (besides how tranquil it is) is that it provides a good approach angle to Victoria regardless of wind direction.
At this very moment, I am having a cocktail and a bite to eat at The Empress....my happy place.
It looks like one or two other crews from my yacht club will be joining me here. They should arrive tomorrow or the following day. They tasked me with finding a venue for New Years Eve....Geeze, this retirement thing is nothing but work...work...work.

Amnesty has arrived in Sequim.
It was a true sailor day today on the hop from Port Ludlow. I saw everything....cloudy skies, high wind, wicked current and choppy seas. It's absolutely pristine here right now.
A sailor friend once said..."Sequim is bomb proof" and he was right. Sequim is in some kind of weather hole. It can be raging out there and calm as Miller's Pond in here.
I will be monitoring the weather to decide the best time to make the jump to Victoria.
Merry Christmas to all !!!
