When you come to a Pilates class - whether with me live online or in-person with me and my colleagues at Pilates Northwest - you will notice that we are a little obsessed with breathing. ;-)
Done well, breathing can stretch the spaces between the ribs and engage the abdominals, provide support for movement, not to mention help regulate your parasympathetic nervous system.
Come play with us! 😀
(Thanks to Pilates Northwest for sharing this great image from PhysioFixers showing the synergy required to breathe well!).
This is a lovely graphic showing the movement of the musculature during inhalation and exhalation. It’s a coordinated effort to form a perfect breath pattern. Thanks to PhysioFixers for this keen look at the intricacies. 👀

If you are struggling physically, know that me and my colleagues at Pilates Northwest will always, always do our best to find a way to keep you moving in a way that's safe and supportive. It's our passion!😍
This is my client-friend Anna K., a GenX athlete who inspires me with her determination. ❤️
One of the most important aspects of Pilates is the way movements can be modified to support your needs at any moment. Our very dedicated client came for her session in a boot and with crutches, but is still able to practice and hone her Pilates skills with some modifications from Mona. Thanks for inspiring us to keep moving even with challenges! Keep up the fantastic work! Teammona: Every Body Fitness
