Congratulations to our most recent class of Black Belts. This group has been working hard all summer! One of the candidates in their essay wrote “The final way Taekwondo benefited me was by making me a better person”. This is the ultimate achievement - it’s not only about becoming Grand Champion or breaking the most boards. Great Grandmaster Kim referred to it as “Becoming the Whole Person” pursuing perfect character along with physical fitness.

Logging in more volunteer hours before the school year! We’ve had a lot of fun serving our community so we’ll plan another volunteer day during winter break.

“Competitions allow contestants to compare their skill to that of others and boost their confidence and drive for progress...it is necessary to distinguish the winner, respect him/her for achievement and, in turn, the other competitor learns to be humble and is motivated to work harder.” ~Great Grandmaster Kim
Pro tip: start participating in tournaments as early as possible - this allows you to improve as you get to a higher rank.
3 tournaments are required for tournament eligibility and this is our only local in-state tournament. Please feel free to ask your instructor if you have questions.

Thank you to ACRS Walk for Rice for letting us help at the food bank today. Kudos to the students that could have slept in today but instead served our community. They are already looking forward to planning another event 💞

“I shall be more helpful to our community” is part of our Student Oath (which resembles the oath of the Hwarang Do). We will be taking Kim’s TKD students to volunteer at the ACRS Food Bank Wednesday, July 22nd 9am-1pm. Many high schools have a community service requirement so get a head start before school begins. Comment or send a message if you’d like to participate.

Congratulations to our students who have been keeping on up with their practice over the summer and tested over the weekend. Summer flies by so set a goal of something you want to accomplish in the next couple months while you have the extra bandwidth. Maybe it’s to learn Korean terms, accomplish a break, learn all of your hand and feet combos… Please congratulate your classmates:

What a nice surprise to workout with our former RV student, Dexter, at Renton today! Dexter and his family recently moved so we know he’s in good hands. It’s hard to move martial arts schools so it’s nice to know we have an extensive network in the Puget Sound: Burien, Kent, Newcastle, Puyallup, Renton, Queen Anne, SeaTac and now Sammamish!
