Building championship speed requires relentless dedication, even in the most serene environments. Great look from .robert capturing 2024 Olympic Gold Medalist Oliver Zeidler putting in the heavy single scull miles as he prepares to dominate the '26 season. The length, leverage, and base rhythm shown here are an absolute masterclass in elite endurance training
Breaking the sub-6 minute barrier on the 2k requires an absolute monster of an engine. β±οΈ
Pulling a sub-6 minute 2000m piece is one of the most grueling tests of athletic excellence and mental fortitude in our sport. Massive respect to for laying down a new 6-second PB and claiming an Australian age record. Holding those elite target splits deep into the third 500m takes months of disciplined endurance training and a massive aerobic base.
What is the most memorable PR you have ever pulled on the erg? π
Building a bulletproof engine starts with the disciplined grind of steady-state training. π£ββοΈ
Locking in a firm rate 20 for a heavy 5k piece is the ultimate test of patience and aerobic capacity. Incredible ex*****on by .povv showing exactly how to maintain a powerful base rhythm and flawless posture throughout a demanding erg session. These are the foundational miles where elite endurance is forged long before the tactical sprint to the finish line.
Raw power that completely challenges the equipment.
Rowing heavy water requires an entirely different level of torque from the engine room. Incredible display of brute strength shared by and , generating so much force through the catch that they are bending Concept2 stiff shafts as if they were flexible Crokers. This is what pure, unadulterated base rhythm looks like when every single athlete connects and drives at the exact same time.

Sometimes the engine room needs a little extra motivation to find that next gear.
A highly effective coxswain knows exactly what to say to extract peak power from the crew during a grueling endurance piece. While polite encouragement has its place, it usually takes a truly creative and intense call to lock in the focus and get the shell moving at top speed.
What is the most unforgettable call your coxswain has ever dropped during a sprint?
Absolute glass.
Incredible POV from finding perfectly flat water. When the lake looks exactly like a mirror, the only thing left to do is lock in the timing and let the shell glide. This is the exact condition every sculler is looking for.
Pure dominance on the international stage. π¨π±
The dedication and peak performance required to secure a championship takes years of disciplined endurance training and flawless team synergy. Incredible coverage by capturing as they celebrate their hard-fought victories at the South American Championships. Moments like this show what happens when the base rhythm and heavy engine room power finally pay off on the water.

In 1885, a student named Nereus , after the ancient Greek god of the sea.
140 years later that single decision has produced some of the most decorated Olympic rowers in Dutch history. Tone Wieten, named the most successful Dutch Olympic rower ever, is a Nereus athlete. So is Karolien Florijn, who won gold in the Women's Single Sculls at Paris 2024. So is Diederik Simon, who won gold at Atlanta 1996. At the Paris Olympics alone, 13 Nereus rowers competed and returned to Amsterdam with 4 gold medals and 5 silver medals.
The club has won the Varsity, the oldest student rowing event in the Netherlands, 45 times. They have won at Henley Royal Regatta five times across five different decades. They have 1,200 active members. They have organised the Heineken Roeivierkamp, an official World Rowing competition, since 1973. And their boathouse has stood on the Amstel River since 1886.
A replica of that boathouse sits permanently in Madurodam, the national miniature park of the Netherlands. That is how much this club means to Dutch culture.

Putting down meters in Abu Dhabi.
Great footage from showcasing their home water. Taking the shells out in a unique urban environment completely changes the vibe of a training session. Getting the double sculls moving on that vibrant blue water right along the seawall makes for an incredible backdrop to log some miles.
