Question: Why do you workout/exercise/train in community?

๐Ÿ—ฃ Hear from some members from our 10am Yoga class the reasons and benefits they experience as they workout in community!

Friendly reminder: All group classes are INCLUDED in your membership. Give something new a try in July.

Question: Why do you train (exercise) in community?

๐Ÿ—ฃ We had fun interviewing some of our younger high school members, Andrew, Yabi, and Bobby. You can walk into RHF on any afternoon and see this trio working out, pushing each other, and motivating others.

Looking for a community to belong? RHF is it!

If you've been seeing our social media posts since the beginning of July, there are two things going on.

The first major announcement is Marla, RHF Operations Manager, is leaving to pursue her Physical Therapy Assistant license ๐Ÿ˜„ The second not-so-major announcement is our July theme, which is Exercising In Community. We want to see and hear about how RHF has provided community for you as you workout and stay active ๐Ÿ’ช

We took both of those things and made them a challenge - you can do one or both of them:

Challenge One: Introduce yourself and get to know someone NEW at the gym
Challenge Two: Complete the Move with Marla workout

We hope you take one of the challenges, and if you do, let us know!

Every week, we are going to introduce, interview, and highlight a member of Team RHF ๐ŸŽ‰ These are the staff, coaches, instructors, and volunteers that you see daily/weekly, and they're the people that keep our RHF members healthy and happy. Hopefully you'll learn more about them, their program(s), and how they can help you find your fit! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿพ

Question: Why do you train in community? ๐Ÿ’ช

๐Ÿ—ฃ Listen to Jane and Tara, two RHF members who participate in TEAM Training, talk about why they exercise in community.

Come join us!

As Marla has been a part of almost 11 years of smiles, training, operating, exercising, encouraging others amongst everything she does, we've come up with several ways to honor and show gratitude for her as she leaves RHF and enters a Physical Therapy Assistant program this Fall.

One of the ways, you can share your appreciation for Marla, is by filling out her kudo-board. A kudo-board is a digital board where you can share stories, pictures, videos, and memories with Marla. Think โ€œkudosโ€ just in the digital world.

Over the next month, RHF has begun a kudo-board for Marla. Feel free to check it out and leave a note of thanks and appreciation for Marla.

In July, our focus is Exercising with Community.

For the past couple of months, weโ€™ve focused on building consistency (Aprilโ€™s theme) growing stronger for life, not just aesthetically (Mayโ€™s theme) and training with purpose and intention (Juneโ€™s theme). The theme for July is exercising in community.

Here at RHF, we know that everyone has a different reason for wanting to move and stay active. Something we believe is special here at RHF is the community and friendships that are built over time.

Those people you see in group fitness classes who become your friends. That person you spoke to one day while on the treadmill that became your accountability partner. Or that Trainer who was only a trainer when you first met, but now they motivate you inside and outside RHF.

Those are the relationships that happen organically here at RHF, and the reason why we say that we truly are a community, gym membership included.

This month were focusing specifically on why RHF members choose to exercise with community and how it's beneficial for more than just their physical bodies. You'll hear from all ages and fitness levels, and maybe you'll complete the July Challenge. Come to the Front Desk and let us know if you did ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰

We want to share an important update with you all:

After many years of service to Rainier Health & Fitness, Marla will be transitioning out of RHF to pursue additional schooling as a Physical Therapy Assistant. She is looking forward to this opportunity to continue her education and be able to help individuals take care of their bodies even more with this future career path!

While we are certainly sad to see her go, we are also incredibly excited for her and this next chapter. Marla has been a huge part of RHFโ€™s story, growth, and impact over the last 10 years. She has poured so much of herself into this organization, our members, and each of us as teammates.

Her last day with us will be July 31st. There will be more opportunities in the coming weeks to celebrate Marla and properly thank her for all she has contributed.

Thankfully, Marla is still very much part of the neighborhood and will remain connected to us all, and we look forward to making the most of this transition period together.

Alicia, RHF Executive Director
