Hey friends!⁣

Just poppin’ in to say 👋🏻⁣
Over the last couple of months I’ve been taking some time to myself— spending less time on work projects/“the next thing”, enjoying more time in nature, distressing, and trying to prioritize sleep & things that bring me joy. ⁣

Over the next month I have a couple of projects to finish up, but once those are off my plate, I’ll have more time to invest in the creation of creative content and future plans for @happyheroyogaandfitness 💯✨⁣

I can’t wait to really dive into future possibilities and learning opportunities with you all, but for now I’ll keep doing what I’m doing. ✌🏻⁣

Sending good vibes, health, and love to you and yours! 💛⁣

xx,⁣
Kenzie

Let’s take a dive into yoga and the cardiovascular system 🫀⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Generally speaking, regular physical activity promotes cardiovascular health. It is associated with weight control, lowering blood pressure, and decreasing your risk of heart disease. I think we can all agree that yoga is a physical activity 💁🏼‍♀️, but did you know that different poses encourage blood flow to different areas of the body. For example, twisting poses promote blood flow to our internal organs when they are released, and inverted poses encourage blood flow from our legs and pelvis to return to the heart.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Another aspect of yoga that influences cardiovascular health is relaxation. When we are relaxed, (i.e. we are in a state in which our parasympathetic nervous system is activated and our sympathetic nervous system is not), we experience less stress. And we know that chronic stress can increase your risk of heart disease. So, when students use their yoga tools like breathing & meditation to help regulate their emotions, breathing, and bodies, they promote relaxation (PNS on) and decrease stress (SNS off), thus, decreasing their risk of heart disease.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
So not only do our yoga poses play an important role in improving cardiovascular health, but so do our breathing and relaxation exercises! ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
To sum it up, yoga promotes cardiovascular health by:⁣⁣
🫀 Increasing blood flow⁣⁣
🫀 Decreasing blood pressure⁣⁣
🫀 Decreasing cholesterol levels⁣⁣
🫀 Normalizing blood sugar⁣⁣
🫀 Increasing heart rate variability⁣⁣
🫀 Decreasing your risk of heart disease⁣⁣
⁣⁣
So get your yoga in today— for a happy heart and mind! 💛⁣⁣

Moving onto the next body system: the Digestive System.⁣

Yoga stimulates the digestive system. Postures contract and release the muscles of the abdomen, thereby massaging the digestive organs. This also stimulates blood flow and lymph fluid in and around these organs. ⁣

In addition, deep breathing moves the diaphragm up and down, which also massages the organs.⁣

All of which stimulates movement, and can contribute to digestive health— elimination is a key component of health and is how we eliminate toxins from the body. ⁣

So there you have it, another win for yoga! 💯

When I count my blessings, I count this guy twice. 💙

He is a constant source of joy, and I’m so grateful for the many smiles and laughs he’s added to my life. He inspires me to connect with my inner child, imagination, and creative spirit. He challenges me to be better— a better role model, a better communicator, more aware/connected with my emotions, more patient, and more free spirited. He gives the best koala bear hugs, and when he says “Aunties, I love you more,” my heart is filled with an inexpressible joy.

Happy Birthday Will Andrew! 🎂 Thank you for all that you are and all you inspire me to be. I hope your 6th trip around the sun is full of adventure, love, laughs, and memories you’ll never forget! 🎉
I love you, buddy!

And now for big announcement numba 2, are you ready?! ⁣I TOTALLY AM because...

Small group yoga is BACK! 🥳⁣

The first 6 week session will begin on March 15th, and will run through April 19th!⁣

Here are the details:⁣
🍍These will be private classes for 3-6 kids between the ages of 5-18 YO.⁣

🍍 Virtual or In-Person Options Available⁣

🍍 For In-Person: I will wear a mask and provide yoga mats. The mats will be sanitized before and a after each use along with any other props used.⁣

🍍 30, 45, and 60 minute options are available depending on the age of the children/teens. These aren't "cookie cutter" classes either. They are customized to the age, development, and interests of the children involved. PLUS, they meet the National PE Standards.⁣

🍍 Cost is $90/child⁣

🍍 I am only opening up 2 time slots for the first spring session— Monday's at 9:15-10:15 AM and Wednesday's at 9:15-10:15 AM {no class 3.24}. If the slot you'd like to take is already booked, I will add you to the waitlist for the next session starting on May 3rd. ⁣

🍍 If you are interested in joining, and looking for others to create a group, please email or DM me. I would love to connect and aide you in your search.⁣

🍍 To sign up or if you have any questions, please send me a DM or email me at [email protected]! ⁣

I can’t wait to move, play, breathe, and laugh with my little yogi/yogini friends again! It’s been 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘵𝘰𝘰 long. The fun kicks off on March 15th, don’t miss it! Get your group together and sign up ASAP! ⁣

I hope to see you on the mat soon! 🎉
