Everything in life is impermanent. Good things won't last forever such as bad times won't last forever. Humans are highly adaptable species, also we are creatures of habit. Double edged sword eh? So, Recently I was leading Nadi Shodhna in a chair yoga class I was teaching. After class some questions came up, "Why is one side of our body different than the other?" "What does alternate nostril breathing do?" Of course I gave brief answers, alternate nostril breathing is used to balance our right side and left side of the brain- or the moon and sun energies. Which I knew correlates to Right side of body is masculine energy associated with the left side of the brain and relates to sun energy and the Left side of the body is the feminine side- right side of the brain- moon energy. So I decided to dig a little deeper and stumbled across this article and thought I'd share.

Svadhyaya is the study of the self. We must reflect on ourselves often. Realize who we are, that we are not just a single state or emotion, but internally at the core. The true self, or "atman" is who we are without any judgement from past events or behaviors. The atman is who we are without the ego.
