Invasion XXI Lineup: Presenting Carlos Avilés de Lucas
Carlos started skydiving in 2010, but everything changed in 2013, when a collision at just 50 jumps left his CYPRES to save his life. The experience transformed his perspective and made him realize that he wanted to truly live life.
The idea of becoming a professional skydiver had always been in the back of his mind. In 2016, with 180 jumps and a dream to pursue, he left everything behind and committed himself fully to working at the drop zone. A year later, he became a tunnel instructor and spent the next four years combining tunnel work with life at the DZ - 365 days a year.
Today, Carlos is a freelance coach with around 7,000 jumps and several national vertical records. But records and competition aren’t his goals. He is driven by learning, teaching, and helping people achieve their goals as safely and effectively as possible.
Outside of skydiving, Carlos enjoys riding motorcycles, skateboarding, surfing, skiing, playing padel, studying Stoic philosophy, and spending time with his people. His goal is simple: to grow as old as possible while continuing to learn, teach, and enjoy the sport as much as he does today.
