This is how Jon prepares for his hip replacement procedure happening this week. Just days before he's on the rock, crushing one of Sedona's hardest sport climbs. I'm sure there's a metaphor here about not making excuses and how in spite of physical pain, there are a few hardcore souls out there reminding us to get up off the couch and get after it! Here's to a speedy recovery and I look forward to seeing you out there soon.

Balance, focus, mental and physical endurance, technical expertise, inspiration, effort, action. All of these are the required traits of a "slacker".

Living in Sedona where over a million visitors descend on our small but beautiful corner of the world every year, I rarely get to experience what it's like traveling to another beautiful place and seeing it from the perspective of a visitor. So when it came to choosing a honeymoon destination, Kauai was top on the list. Going there was a refreshing reminder that we are blessed to be able to exist in these spectacular places and that they and the people who live there need our respect to continue to have the same impact on our children when they get to experience them for the first time. Enjoy these images I was able to capture and wherever you go, always treat that place like you would your home. Mahalo Kauai!

Weeks of effort led to Wilson Cutbirth completing the first ascent on Where The Wild Things Are, 5.12d. An amazing 110' finger crack splitting an otherwise blank face of red rock far out in Oak Creek Canyon. The bar is rising on the quality of new climbing routes being established here in Sedona by some truly remarkable local athletes.

Last weekend I had the privilege to photograph my beautiful fiance Lisa Studniski with the endlessly creative, uplifting and adventurous Bonnie Miller of http://www.bonmiller.com They were excited and willing to haul gear deep into the red rocks and rappel into this awesome location where we rigged the aerial silks for Lisa, Bonnie and I to play.
