Dear SWYF&C Families, Supporters, and Athletes,
We understand the frustration and disappointment surrounding this week’s home games being relocated to another location. We know how much our athletes, families, and community look forward to playing at home and having the opportunity to cheer our Cubs on right here in Woolley.
We want to provide some clarification about how league scheduling works and why this change occurred.
At the beginning of each season, SWYF&C receives home field availability from the school district. We then submit those available dates to the NCYFL (North Cascade Youth Football League). The NCYFL collects field availability from every organization in the league and builds the league-wide schedule around those dates.
When field availability changes for any organization, it can unfortunately create a ripple effect that requires adjustments to the league schedule to ensure games can still be played.
For Woolley, this situation occurred with our very first scheduled home game. Due to the ongoing track and field construction at SWHS, the field was no longer available as originally anticipated. This was outside of SWYF&C’s control, as well as the NCYFL’s and the district’s control.
We also want to clarify why Denny Engberg Field was not used as the replacement location for this weekend’s games. While Denny Engberg is an important field for our program and is utilized regularly for practices and other activities, it is not an optimal game-day location for hosting multiple teams.
There are several logistical limitations, including:
• Limited parking and traffic flow
• Space and field logistics for multiple visiting organizations
• Overall accommodations needed to safely and effectively host league game days
Our priority is always making sure our athletes have a safe, organized, and positive game-day experience.
We know this change is disappointing, especially for our athletes who have been looking forward to playing in front of their home crowd. Please know that SWYF&C shares that disappointment. We want our Cubs playing at home just as much as our families and supporters do.
As of today, Thursday 9/17/26 all other scheduled games remain the same per the original schedule. Please keep in mind, the schedule is subject to change based on all organizations field availability.
We appreciate your patience, understanding, and continued support as we navigate circumstances that are sometimes outside of our control. We are incredibly grateful for the Woolley community and the way you continue to show up for our athletes, whether they are playing at home or on the road.
