I’m in one of the hardest seasons of my life right now. And I still showed up to film this.

Here’s what I keep coming back to. Your brain has a default setting. Scientists call it the default mode network. It’s the old road. The pattern you know best. The snapping, the shutting down, the going it alone. And when life gets heavy and your system is depleted, research suggests your brain leans even harder into that old road, because it’s the one it knows.

So the real work happens in the hard part. Sitting in it. Letting yourself be dysregulated, visibly, uncomfortably, without rushing to fix it or numb it. Because every time you stay through the wave instead of bolting for the old pattern, your system learns something new: we can feel this and not become it.

I’m not on the other side of this season. I’m in it. Regulated is not how I would describe my week. But I’m here. And showing up while dysregulated is the practice itself.

Save this for the day you need permission to be a mess and still show up.
