Young and old can see major benefits by adding mobility and hips, knees, ankles, and shoulders, especially if you are trying to get better at streamlining and swimming. A better kick. A better arm pull, and better at treading and swimming with scuba fins. Not to mention how it helps with running and lifting. According to tactical fitness coach and former Navy SEAL Stew Smith, performance cues are mental triggers, self-talk phrases, or pre-game rituals used to actively manage your energy state, lower stress, build mental toughness, and maximize physical output.
By intentionally anchoring short, powerful phrases to past successes and specific emotional states, you can create a "mind-body connection" that allows you to instantly alter your physical performance under duress.
How to Create and Use Performance Cues
Smith emphasizes that these cues are highly effective tools for military schools with high attrition rates, sports, work, and general daily stressors.
Recall Peak Moments: Think back to a specific time when you highly excelled—like hitting a walk-off home run, hitting an A+ on a brutal exam, or achieving a personal best in a workout.
Name Your State: Remember the exact feeling of success and tie it to a concise phrase or name like "game time," "bust it," "let's do this," or "beast mode".

There is no ONE way to do anything. Sure there are principles that must be a part of any action toward a goal, but the methods can vary. Trying out different methods over the last 45 years of consistent training has been educational and has offered an experience to learn something new each day. I may offer a suggestion, but if anyone has a different opinion on something that worked for them, share it. Let's learn more than one day to do something.
I have always said I have A way to train for a particular goal, not THE ONLY way.

Loadbearing. Whether it is a boat, a log, a person, a ruck, a stretcher, or equipment you need to get good at carrying it. Make sure on some of your training days you mix in grip for things you must carry with handles and things you must carry with your arms, shoulders, or head.
