I’ve been training Bob for 20 years, and at 81 years old, he is exactly what we’re working toward.
Not six-pack abs.
Not a certain number on the scale.
A life filled with strength, independence, and freedom.
Bob still trains with me twice a week. He volunteers, stays active, has a busy social life, and lives independently. He’s not slowing down because he has spent the last two decades investing in his health.
And the numbers back it up. His muscle mass is categorized as very high for his age.
This is why I talk so much about strength training.
The goal isn’t just to feel stronger today. It’s to build the kind of body that lets you keep saying “yes” to the life you want decades from now.
Every workout is a deposit into your future.
Start where you are. Stay consistent. Keep showing up.
Your 80-year-old self is counting on you. 💙

Progress isn’t linear.
Your weight will go up sometimes.
It will plateau.
Some weeks it won’t seem to change at all.
The same is true with strength.
You won’t get stronger every single workout. You’ll hit plateaus. You’ll have weeks where you’re tired. Life gets busy. You travel. You get sick. Sometimes you get injured.
None of that means you’re failing.
The people who see lasting results aren’t the ones with perfect progress—they’re the ones who keep coming back.
Show up when you can.
Do your best with the season you’re in.
Then show up again.
Because fitness isn’t about chasing a perfect outcome. It’s about building a practice you can return to for the rest of your life.
Trust the process. Stay consistent. The results will follow.
✨ What helps you stay consistent when progress feels slow?
If you’re new to strength training, you don’t need a complicated workout. You just need a few solid movements and a plan to progress.
Today’s upper body workout includes:
💪 Supported One-Arm Row
💪 Chest Press
💪 Alternating Arnold Press
Here’s how to use it:
✨ Beginners: Complete 2 rounds.
✨ More experienced lifters: Complete 3–5 rounds.
Choose a weight that leaves you with 2 reps in reserve (RIR).
What does that mean?
It means you finish each set feeling like you could have done only 2 more reps with good form. That’s where you’ll build strength while still keeping your technique solid.
Keep in mind that your rep range may look different depending on the equipment you have. If you’re working out at home with just one or two sets of dumbbells, you may end up doing more reps before you reach that “2 reps in reserve.” If you’re at a gym with lots of weight options, you’ll likely use a heavier weight and perform fewer reps.
Don’t overcomplicate it. Focus on good form, challenge yourself, and be consistent. That’s how strength is built.
Save this workout for your next upper body day and let me know how it goes! 💙

Bounce and Paddle this morning was everything I hoped it would be! The weather was beautiful, the people were so fun and the vibes were high. I love hearing laughter while we sweat together. It makes me feel like I’m in the exact right place. Thank you to CapSup for another opportunity to teach my favorite class.

Don’t miss the LAST Bounce & Paddle class of the season! ☀️🌊
📅 Saturday, August 2 at 9:00 AM
📍 Capital SUP | Annapolis
If you’ve been thinking about trying it, this is your sign!
We’ll kick things off with 45 minutes of cardio and strength intervals on the mini trampolines, then head out for a 45-minute leisurely paddle on the water.
✨ No experience is needed.
✨ All fitness levels are welcome.
✨ Just come ready to move, laugh, and enjoy being outside.
This is hands down one of my favorite classes of the year. There’s something so special about getting your workout in outdoors, then slowing down to paddle and soak in the beauty of where we live. It’s the perfect way to celebrate summer before the season slips away.
Who’s joining me? 💙🌊☀️
Joy doesn’t always come from the next vacation, the next milestone, or the next big adventure.
Don’t get me wrong—I love trying new things and creating fun experiences. But lately I’ve realized that the greatest source of joy isn’t always what’s next… it’s what’s happening right now.
The morning coffee that’s just right. ☕️
A workout that makes you feel strong. 💪
A conversation that makes you laugh. 😂
A beautiful sunset. 🌅
A quiet moment to breathe.
The more we train our brains to notice these small moments, the more joy we experience overall.
✨ Today’s challenge:
Three times today, pause and ask yourself, “What’s one thing I’m loving about this moment?”
It doesn’t have to be life-changing. It just has to be noticed.
Joy is often hiding in the ordinary—we just have to pay attention. ❤️
Tell me one small moment of joy you’ve had today. ⬇️

Some client testimonials make me smile. Others stop me in my tracks.
When Kate sent me this, I read it more than once.
I’ve had the privilege of working with her on and off for 15 years, and consistently for the past several years through virtual training. Watching her grow stronger, more confident, and more capable has been one of the greatest joys of my career.
What stands out most isn’t the weight she’s lost or the workouts she’s completed. It’s the way she’s changed her relationship with fitness.
💪 Fitness isn’t about being the strongest person in the room.
💛 It’s not about perfection.
✨ It’s about building a body that supports the life you want to live.
Kate’s story is proof that strength, mobility, confidence, and resilience can be built at any stage of life. That’s why I do what I do.
Thank you, Kate, for trusting me with your journey and for sharing your story so beautifully. It means more than you know.
Swipe through to read her words—you might just see a little of yourself in her story.
Your chest press is only as good as your form. 💪
The biggest mistake I see? Elbows flared out at shoulder height.
Instead, keep your elbows at about a 45° angle and lower the weights to ni**le line at the bottom of the movement. This puts your shoulders in a stronger, safer position and helps reduce your risk of shoulder impingement.
Good technique isn’t just about lifting more weight—it’s about making better gains while staying injury-free.
Slow down. Dial in your form. Your shoulders will thank you.

We often think of exercise as a weight loss tool… but that’s selling it way short.
One of the biggest benefits of exercise has nothing to do with the number on the scale.
💪 Muscle acts like a sponge for glucose, helping pull sugar out of your bloodstream and improving insulin sensitivity. The more consistently you move your body and build muscle, the better your body can regulate blood sugar.
Exercise isn’t just changing how you look—it’s changing how your body works.
Train for your health. The body you want is often a byproduct. 💙
Creatine doesn’t work because of timing—it works because of consistency. 💪
Stop stressing about whether you should take it before or after your workout. The most important thing is taking it every single day.
✅ 5g creatine monohydrate daily
✅ Pick a time you’ll remember
✅ Stay consistent
The benefits come from keeping your muscles saturated over time—not from taking it at the “perfect” moment.
Consistency wins. Every time.
