I have been in Jiu Jitsu and Grappling for nearly 30 years. I have watched hundreds of lives completely transform from those mats. I often talk about the power of jiu jitsu to heal. The friendships forged are second to NONE! There is something magical that happens after you have been training a while. You begin to feel just simply... BETTER. Like you have had a mental and physical tune up. I can't explain it but it's very real.

I can tell you that men need this. We all do!! But Men tend to lose something as we get older. Maybe we played sports, served in the military or have just noticed that you really have no friends anymore because everyone is living their own life.

We all start Jiu Jitsu for one reason and stay for another.... I say this often!

Jiu Jitsu gives you that sense of team, friendships and Camaraderie that we all desperately need yet seldom get. The stress release from the training and having a good time. Friendships that are true and based on social media, financial status or ego. Just honest and wholesome connections with people. I can go on and on... it's amazing.. Nearly 30 years later I can tell you I am still hooked on it!

Attention parents. As a reminder! We are now switching to NO GI gor the remainder of the summer. This means:

Shirts (please Black or Grey or a team shirt)

A rash guard

Shorts with no buttons or zippers or gi pants! Spats or yoga pants are also fine with shorts covering them.

Parents,

We have been really trying to find a way to connect with your kiddos with Jiu jitsu. But we simply can't do it and run it like a playground. I have coached kids for almost 25 years and have never had an issue keeping a class on the same page.

I am not sure if some of the kids simply just don't want to be there or what the deal is.. but we need to move forward with the actual technical aspects of Jiu jitsu. We love your kids!! Please know that!! We are struggling with trying to actually teach them while it seems we are just entertaining them.

We will begin offering a tumbling class which may be a better option for some of the kids and might gain their focus more effectively. I am not teaching that (obviously) We have an actual tumbling instructor who works with kids. At this point it's a matter of getting the schedule to work.

I will be evaluating the kids in the next few weeks. Not for actual skill or potential.. but for passion to be there for Jiu jitsu. If it's not a good fit.. then it's best that we don't continue to distract the other students and need to find the right program for them. Ultimately it's about getting the most out of the students and building confidence.
