Almost never do I have clients lift a weight that they can handle for less for 5 reps. Why? because it‘s dangerous, it doesn’t actually make you stronger or translate to anything in sports unless you’re a power lifter. Granted, telling your friends that you can one arm swing a 40lb kettlebell or they created the kinetic force equivalent of 5 times their body weight by landing from 20 inches doesn’t generate the back slap enthusiasm that half repping a 400lb squat does...But training clients of any age is not about how much weight they can lift, its about what’s truly best for the individual, what will make them better at what they’re trying to do, and more resistant to injury while surprising their friends with their ability to move with speed, balance, power and athleticism.. 🏋️‍♂️

It’s not just about how much you can squat, bench or deadlift. It is about power, explosiveness and your ability to resist injury. Your body has no real idea about how much weight its moving. It reacts and adapts to the stimulus and demands placed upon it. Here, 20lbs requires 300lbs of eccentric strength 🦾🏋️‍♂️ Ahh, the fun we have here 🧙

I generally care way less about what the scale says for my clients, as how they feel, what they can do, how quickly they recover and making everyday things easier, all are far more important. But this guy has done it the right way. He’s put in massive work, shown up on days he didn’t feel like it and once we cleaned up his eating just a little bit, the strength went up and the pounds fell off. No drugs, surgery, cleanses, starvation, AI, or secret pills. Just intelligent, consistent training. He’s down 83 lbs, I can help you do the same. All the machines, the TV screens on the treadmill, the classes, and the diets are no match for basic, effective, compound movements, with enough variation to keep yourself strong and energized.
