Time to start training!🀩

We at Ohketeau Cultural Center and at the Natives Run Advisory Committee are excited that you are interested in running in the 2027 Boston Marathon.

For the third year we have the honor of distributing 4 bibs to Indigenous community members who are enrolled members of Tribal communities in New England.

It is important that those who are interested in running have already started training or will start training immediately and before the end of November.

The Boston Marathon is 26.2 mile run and for our community members health and safety it is important that the proper training has commenced so that the individuals chosen can have the best chance at successfully and safely completing the run.

To ensure that all bibs are used we will have standbys for each bib in the case that someone is unable to complete the training necessary to prepare or in the case that there is a reason that the chosen runner has to back out at the last minute.

We have committee members willing to support with best practices and sharing of useful training routines.

The runners will be chosen in October and will be based on commitment to training leading up to the Boston Marathon. Standby runners will also be chosen at this time. The race is on Monday April 19th, 2027. Upon completion of this form, you will be sent an email with next steps.

Guidelines:
- Must be an enrolled member of a state or federally recognized Tribe with homelands in New England (if there are not enough applicants from Tribes in New England, Tribal citizens from Tribes outside New England will be considered.)
- Must be already in training or start training immediately upon submission of this form. This means that running is already a regular daily or weekly practice for you or that you will have the time commitment to make it so starting immediately.
- Must commit to running 30-50 miles per week leading up to the marathon. If you are starting out, you can work up to this but be successful in doing this by the beginning of January.
- Must be 18yrs old to participate (Boston Marathon qualification)
- Join the Natives Run Strava group and stay in communication with chosen Natives Run committee member on progress and for support.
- Be responsive to communications from designated Natives Run representative.
- Answer all question on this form:
