Hunter Puckett, class of 2026
United States Marine Corps

Over the past 10 weeks, Hunter has taken on some of the biggest challenges of his life. He has spent countless hours being pushed physically, mentally, and emotionally through Marine Corps recruit training.

Being a Marine is about more than strength. It’s discipline, courage, teamwork, sacrifice, perseverance, and the commitment to something bigger than yourself. Those are qualities we’ve seen in him long before he ever stepped onto the Marine Corps training grounds.

Now, he has reached The Crucible. The final 54-hour challenge of recruit training. It puts everything he has learned to the test through demanding physical challenges, mental obstacles, teamwork, and very little food and sleep. Completing it is the final step toward earning the title of United States Marine and receiving the Eagle, Globe and Anchor. 🦅🌎⚓️🇺🇸

We couldn’t be more proud of you. We’ve watched you compete, lead, and never give up and know you will do the same as a United States Marine.

Thank you for your service, Hunter! Your volleyball family is cheering you on back home! 💛💚

Esteban Irizarry, class of 2026
National Guard

From his mom:
Esteban’s Basic Combat Training journey began on July 14, when he left for Fort Sill, Oklahoma. During BCT, he has faced physical, mental, and emotional challenges while adjusting to military life.

He has completed intense physical training, long marches, field exercises, obstacle courses, weapons training, marksmanship, land navigation, and tactical exercises. He has also learned discipline, teamwork, military customs, and how to follow orders under pressure.

As the weeks have passed, Esteban has become stronger, more confident, disciplined, and determined. During his Sunday calls, we can hear how proud he is of his progress. His faith has also helped him through training as he reads his Bible and prays for strength and protection.

After completing BCT, Esteban will attend Family Day on September 24 and graduate on September 25. He will then begin four weeks of Advanced Individual Training to become a Cannon Crewmember, where he will learn to operate and maintain artillery equipment and support his unit’s missions.
