Hello Sheridan Hockey Families!

We hope you all have been enjoying your summer so far. Crazy as it sounds, but we are opening up early bird registration for SAHA beginning today, June 21st! This applies only to the traveling age groups (Sq**rt, Peewee, Bantams, High School, and Girls). Early birds get a $50 discount on the season. Regular registration at normal price will be between July 5th and August 7th. Registration will close on August 22nd with late registration between August 8th and August 22nd. Late registrants will be charged a fee.

If you are a multi-team hockey family, please register your oldest child first and your youngest last. Please register your child at their specific age group. Movement between age groups, if any, will not happen until after the season starts.

If you are registering a goalie, please reach out to me before registering.

Hey hockey players. Tryout and Showcase season is upon us. Good luck. Wyoming Cutthroats tryouts will be August 19-20, 2023 in Casper. We will be looking to fill 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, and possibly 18U teams. We’ve also heard interest in a girls team. Our goal remains to provide an opportunity for players to play on a travel team, have fun, grow as players, and represent our great state of Wyoming. Application forms are here and on our website. The Wyoming Amateur Hockey Association (WAHA) Player Development Camps (PDCs) are held each year following the conclusion of the Wyoming Amateur Hockey League (WAHL) season. The primary goal of the WAHA Player Development Camps is to provide players across the state an affordable post-season hockey camp with the best available coaches both on and off the ice. The camps focus on building and continuing to develop the fundamental hockey skills (skating, passing, shooting, etc.). There are no limitations on skill ability and all players registered with USA Hockey are encouraged to attend.
At the conclusion of the camps, some players are chosen to advance to the Northern Plains District Player Development Camps in Grand Forks, North Dakota, which includes players from Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota. Those players will be selected at the WAHA PDCs and notified at the conclusion of the camps by a Northern Plains District representative. There may also be other opportunities available such as multi-district and regional player development camps. Players must attend the WAHA PDCs in order to be eligible for these additional opportunities though.

Sheridan teams wrapped up the final weekend of state tournaments. Our Hawks continued to work hard and show Wyoming hockey who we are!

Bantam A team finished in 3rd place. They lost their first game to Gillette A 2-1. They won their second game against Yellowstone 9-5. Then had to face Gillette A again and came out with a HUGE win 10-1.

Batam B lost to Rock Springs 8-1 in their first game and then battled hard against Cheyenne and lost in a shoot-out 5-4.

Sq**rt Blue was in the B bracket. They won their first game 15-5 against Douglas. Lost to Gillette Silver 10-8. Then went on to beat Douglas again 9-5 in the Consolation game.

Sq**rt Gold and Sq**rt White were both in the A bracket and ended up being in the same pool.

Sq**rt Gold beat Sq**rt White 10-8 in their first matchup. Sq**rt White lost to Yellowstone Black 18-4. Sq**rt Gold lost to Yellowstone Black 11-5. Sq**rt Gold ended up in 3rd place with a win over Gillette Black 8-3 and Sheridan White lost in a tough matchup to Gillette White for 5th/6th place.

We are so proud of all our Hawks young and old. You have so much to be proud of this season and we can't wait to see the continued growth on and off the ice.

Sticks Out for a Gillette hockey family.

Hockey Families,

I come to you with sad news tonight. As we concluded our season, sadly early this morning we lost one of our own. Not a player, but a mother of one of our players unexpectedly passed away. Her husband has also coached many of our players.

I am asking that we get as many of our Wyoming hockey families posting pictures of our sticks on our porches in support of Coach Mike Wilson’s wife and AJ Decker’s mother Sha'la from Gillette. We may all live in different areas of our great state. But we are ALL one big Wyoming family. My daughter Dottie's stick will be out tonight in her honor. Please join me in honoring one of our own this week.

Eight Sheridanites traveling with Team Wyoming to national hockey finals Team Wyoming Girls Under-14 hockey team considers themselves underdogs. As mostly first-generation skaters, the nationals-bound team looks to continue skating paths forward for future generations of Wyoming hockey players.

Our final weekend of State Championship games are upon us!

Our Bantam A and B Teams are headed to Casper to compete starting Friday morning at 7:00 a.m. 14U Wyoming Hockey State Championship

Schedule:
Friday, February 24th @ 8:30 p.m. vs Casper.
Saturday, February 25th @ 12:30 vs Rock Springs.
The B division was split into a B & C bracket due to the number of teams. Your Sheridan Hawks will be competing in the C Divison. The C Divison has 6 teams split into 2 pools. The #1 teams in each pool will play in the Championship game on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. The 2nd place teams will play in the consultation game at 8:00 a.m. The 3rd place teams will play in the 5th/6th place game Saturday night at 8:00 p.m.

All games will be played at the Sublette County Ice Arena which has Live Barn!

Your Sheridan Hawks PeeWee B team ended the regular season with a 4-15-1 record.

The Gillette Hockey Association is excited to be hosting the 2023 WAHL Girls State Hockey Championship at Spirit Hall Ice Arena, February 10-12. Here is a link to preorder tournament apparel, along with the four logo options. Preorders will close on Friday January 27th to allow for orders to be placed and apparel assembly.

A huge congrats to Creighton Beach, Charlie Gage, and Jaxon Reilly for bringing home their second championship banner for Team Wyoming 14U AA! Way to represent Sheridan and Team WY hockey!

Hey Hawks fans Team Wyoming Girls is hosting a tournament this weekend including lots of your Lady Hawks! Come down to the rink to see them play teams from South Dakota and Canada! We also have great basket raffle items up for grabs and a Colorado Avalanche 22-23 signed pennant and a Cale Makar signed photo on silent auction!

Basket raffle tickets are $20 an arm span.
Basket Raffle and Silent Auction items will close tomorrow morning around 8:00 a.m.
