Daniel Crist has taken SplitTech high, far, and down uncharted lines as a Phantom Team Rider, and we are proud to officially introduce him!

Dan grew up in a rural Wisconsin town and found his love for snowboarding at an early age. At around 5 years old, he was tearing up the little hill in his backyard with a board without metal edges. As a teenager, he worked and rode at the local ski hill as much as possible and knew right away that he was going to be a lifer on a board. Over twenty years of riding, Dan found himself packing my bags and moving out to the mountains in Estes Park, Colorado.

His first winter out west was in 2018 and it was then that Dan discovered splitboarding and Phantom Snow Industries. While working at the local mountain shop, he noticed a memorial of a fallen splitboard guide, whose board was hung with Phantom bindings mounted to it. After some research and conversations with his mentor, Dan knew that the Phantom system was the only way to go when it comes to riding technical terrain and climbing it. Dan now works as a splitboard guide and is on track to become an AMGA certified splitboard guide.

The Phantom Crew has shared many backcountry hoots and hollers with Dan and we are excited to support his splitboard guide journey. Give Dan a warm welcome in the comments below and head to his page to follow him and his adventures!

Phantom is thrilled to welcome Krister Kopala and his big-line style as a Phantom Snow Industries Team Rider! ❄️

was born in 1991 in Tromsø northern Norway. Growing up in the town of Tromsø up in northern Norway, where winter lasts nine months, Krister started snowboarding at the age of five and spent nearly every afternoon and weekend in the local lift system riding side-hits and practicing his 360s.
As he got older, Krister realised that there was far more to the sport than only hitting big kickers and riding fast in the slopes. He found himself increasingly attracted to the combination of alpinism and snowboarding, and now spends most of his time in the mountains in pursuit of demanding lines. His ever-growing passion for exploring alpine terrain and riding untracked couloirs has taken Krister to the wildest places, and also led to appearances in a large number of film projects. When he’s not riding his board, Krister can still be found outside running, climbing, cycling, doing strength training or whatever feels good for the body and mind.

Unlike Repair Kits, which should be tucked into backpacks to support quick fixes in the backcountry, Rebuild Kits are intended to be utilized (and enjoyed!) at-home in preparation of the upcoming hardboot fun. To get straight to the point - Phantom is not going to be making any more boots. It’s a big change to our business, but we think that it’s the right move for Phantom. It's important to be clear that we still have a good number of boots in stock. It is also important to note that we are fully stocked with all service parts and will continue to honor our warranty and provide service on every boot that we have sold - we are not abandoning our customers. And while we still feel like the Slipper HD is an incredible value to our customers, we just cannot keep up with the workload any longer. 

We are extremely proud of what we have achieved with the Slipper and the Slipper HD - in addition to winning several industry awards, ultimately, it made hardboots and the split tech system accessible to the general public. We gave riders a platform that was endlessly customizable - from the fit to the ride, everything could be personalized. 

The fact is that continuing to produce boots is unsustainable at Phantom's current size, and we want to be able to splitboard during the winter, not just in the late spring. We are extremely proud of what we achieved, but it’s time to move to a more sustainable work model. 

Phantom is not going anywhere! We are going to continue to make the best SplitTech bindings and board hardware in the industry. We are also going to continue making our patented Link Levers. Most importantly, we have enough spare parts that we will be able to service all of the boots that we have sold for the foreseeable future.
