🏅Warriors Run at DeSales Invitational

Center Valley, Pa. — On Saturday, Sept. 19, the Lycoming College cross country team competed at DeSales University, with the women placing fourth with 129 points in the 6K, while the men concluded in eighth with 224 points in the 8K.

The Warrior women secured a fourth-place finish in the 6K team standings with 129 points. Senior Regan Jury (Millersburg, Pa. / Millersburg Area) led the team with a fourth-place finish in 23:28.4 and senior Sydney Taylor (Troy, Pa. / Troy) followed in 27th at 26:11.9.

The Warrior men completed the competition in eighth place in the 8K team standings with 224 points. Senior Avery Rosan (Frederica, Del. / Polytech) led the men in 59th at 31:01.0, followed by sophomore Jacob Carr (Towanda, Pa. / Towanda Area) in 71st at 33:34.9.

The Warriors are set to travel to Lock Haven, Pa., for the Lock Haven University Invitational at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26.

🏑Field Hockey soars to 10-0 victory over Saint Francis

Lock Haven, Pa. - The Lock Haven field hockey team found the back of the cage in the opening seconds and never looked back en route to a dominant 10-0 shutout victory over Saint Francis on Friday afternoon at Charlotte Smith Field.

Lock Haven's 10 goals on Friday is tied for third in program history and is the most in a single game since 2005.

With the victory, The Haven has surpassed its win total from 2025 and is off to its best start since 2022 at 3-2 to kick off the season.

The Bald Eagles found the back of the cage four times in the opening quarter and added two goals in each of the final three periods. Lock Haven outshot Saint Francis, 20-4, placed 14 shots on goal and earned a 10-0 advantage in penalty corners.

Melanie Beall opened the scoring just 30 seconds into the contest off an assist from Cassidy Clausnitzer. Maddie Friend followed with a goal at the 1:54 mark, set up by Beall, before adding two more first-quarter tallies to complete the hat trick.

Friend scored at 8:54 and 12:49, both with assists from Rylee Wassmer, and finished with a game-high three goals. She also added an assist.

Eva Drumbore pushed Lock Haven's lead to 5-0 early in the second quarter, scoring at the 16:24 mark. Maggie Moylan added a goal late in the half to send the Bald Eagles into the break with a 6-0 advantage.

Beall recorded her second goal of the afternoon less than a minute into the third quarter. Moylan added her second score at 41:04, finishing a play assisted by Friend and Paula Sigley.

Lock Haven continued its offensive surge in the fourth quarter. Pilar Peroni scored at 46:08 before Max Russell capped the scoring at 47:45 off assists from Ambar Bruno and Peroni.

Beall totaled two goals and one assist, while Moylan scored twice. Peroni registered a goal and an assist, and Wassmer added two assists. Clausnitzer, Sigley and Bruno each recorded one assist.

Sophia Owens earned the shutout in goal for Lock Haven, making three saves over 60 minutes.

The Bald Eagles held Saint Francis without a shot in the second half and did not allow a penalty corner.

The Bald Eagles return to Charlotte Smith Field on Sunday, Sept. 20 for a 12 p.m. non-conference game against American.

🏌Golf wins the Misericordia Invite

Wilkes-Barre, Pa. - Macy Trostle shot a career-best 81 to headline the Lock Haven golf team's overall victory at the Misericordia Invite on Friday afternoon.

The Haven shot an invite-best 365 as a group to take first place over Scranton, Wilkes, King;s (Pa.) and Misericordia at the Wilkes Barre Municipal Golf Club.

Leading the Bald Eagles and with a new personal best was Trostle, who shot an 81 to end the day and place second overall individually.

Trostle notably finished with eight pars on the day, leading to a new personal best.

Four strokes behind Trostle was Hannah Kopac with a score of 85, while Cameron Trostle finished third on the team with a 99.

🏐Volleyball Outlasts Lafayette in Five-Set Affair

Easton, Pa.- Bucknell (5-5, 1-0 Patriot League) opened its conference campaign off on the right foot with a five-set (25-23, 25-27, 15-25, 25-20, 15-8) victory over Lafayette (6-5, 0-1 Patriot League) on Friday night. The Bison fell behind two sets to one before rallying for a win and extending its win streak over the Leopards.

Rookie Marion Haskell led Bucknell with 15 kills. She was one of three Bison to record double-digit kills. Cameron Lloyd added 13 kills and Kaitlyn Taylor supplied 12. Emerson Boyd served up 24 assists.

Lloyd shoveled 22 digs to surpass 1000 career digs. The senior entered the contest with 995 digs.

Neither team was particularly efficient offensively. Bucknell hit .104 to Lafayette's .057.

Lafayette, in hindsight, would rue the first set and how it allowed a massive lead slip away into a 25-23 Bucknell win. The Leopards jumped out to the early advantage and led by ten points multiple times. Bucknell never gave up and kept chipping away at the lead, tying it up at 22-22. The teams traded points before Bucknell closed out the set on back-to-back Lafayette errors.

The second set was an even affair at 13-13 before Lafayette uncorked a 5-0 run. Once again, the Bison launched a comeback and tied the set at 24-24. Lafayette prevented another Bison comeback with a 3-1 run.

Lafayette dominated the third set, winning 25-15. The Leopards broke away after an early tie and Bucknell was unable to generate another rally.

Bucknell trailed 14-12 in the fourth set before using a 4-0 run to grab the lead. Lafayette tried to counterattack but Haskell posted three kills to prevent the Leopards from winning in four sets.

The fifth set was all Bucknell. The Bison stormed to a 12-4 lead and, despite three straight Lafayette points, closed out the 15-8 set win and the match victory.

Bucknell remains on the road tomorrow to face Lehigh.

🏐Volleyball outlasts Bloomsburg in five-set PSAC opener

Bloomsburg, Pa. - The Lock Haven women’s volleyball team opened Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Eastern Division play with a five-set road victory at Bloomsburg on Friday evening, defeating the Huskies, 3-2, inside Nelson Field House.

Lock Haven prevailed by set scores of 25-21, 25-19, 19-25, 23-25 and 15-9 to improve to 7-4 overall and 1-0 in PSAC competition. Bloomsburg moved to 7-4 overall and 0-1 in conference action.

The Bald Eagles put together a balanced offensive effort, recording 64 kills while hitting .144 as a team. Lock Haven was especially effective late in the match, totaling 11 kills on a .292 hitting percentage in the decisive fifth set.

Lock Haven gained an early 2-0 match advantage after taking the opening two sets, 25-21 and 25-19. The Bald Eagles recorded 15 kills and hit .270 in the second frame.

Bloomsburg responded by winning the next two sets, 25-19 and 25-23, to even the match at 2-2.

The Bald Eagles answered in the final set, using an 11-kill effort and their strongest hitting percentage of the night to secure the 15-9 victory.

Maddie Mitchell led The Haven with 17 kills, while Maddy Fox and Payton Stanton added 15 kills apiece. Fox and Stanton also made their presence felt at the net, tying for the team lead with three blocks each, and Gracelynn Wolzen chipped in two blocks.

Natalie Gibson directed the offense with 56 assists and added 16 digs to her all-around performance. Olivia Taylor anchored the back row with a match-high 31 digs, while Reagan Irons totaled 16 digs and paced Lock Haven from the service line with four aces. Demi Ross added one ace in the winning effort.

Lock Haven finished with a 92-75 advantage in digs and held a 61-42 edge in assists. The Bald Eagles also registered five service aces and eight total blocks.

The Bald Eagles return to Lock Haven tomorrow (Saturday, Sept. 19) to host Lackawanna in a non-conference match at 1 p.m. in Thomas Fieldhouse.

🎾Wildcats Handle Monarchs on the Court

South Williamsport, Pa. - Penn College defeated King's College 6-1 on Friday in nonconference men's tennis action at the Central PA Tennis Center. The Wildcats swept all three doubles matches and won five of six singles contests to take the victory. PCT moved to 2-0 overall. The Monarchs opened their season at 0-1 overall.

How it happened: The Wildcats earned the doubles point after Cruz Nagle and Connor Stank won by default at No. 3 doubles, and Joshua Myers and Eli Greeley clinched the point with a 6-1 win in the No. 1 slot. Matt Williams and Avery Hawk completed the doubles sweep with a 6-1 victory against Logan Tomkins and Zackary Bedwell at No. 2.

PCT carried the 1-0 lead into singles and moved ahead 2-0 when Christian Ambromovage won by default at No. 6 singles. Greeley followed with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Logan Tomkins at No. 2, putting the Wildcats one point away, and Valentino Barillaro clinched the dual at No. 5 with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over William Savner for a 4-0 lead.

After the clinch, Myers added a 6-4, 6-4 win over Nate Linnen at No. 1. King's College got its point at No. 4, where Zackary Bedwell defeated Hawk in a tiebreak set, 3-6, 6-0, 13-11. Matt Williams closed the match at No. 3 with a 4-6, 7-6 (4), 10-4 win over Gavin Hall to give PCT a 6-1 final.

🏐Strong Start not Enough in Volleyball Setback Against Thiel

Grove City, Pa. — Penn College lost to Thiel 3-0 on Friday in the opening round of the Grove City/Westminster Invitational, falling by set scores of 22-25, 15-25 and 20-25. The Wildcats finished with 15 kills while Thiel posted 34 kills and hit .165. The Wildcats dropped to 0-11 overall. Thiel is 3-2 overall.

How it happened: The Wildcats opened the first set with an 8-1 run, getting three Taryn Smith service aces and three Lilly Stockum kills in that stretch. After Thiel moved ahead 13-11, Penn College answered with four straight points, including a Kendall Shade ace, to go up 15-13. Thiel followed with six straight points to move in front 19-15 and took the set 25-22.

PCT could not overcome Thiel's service pressure in the second set, as Arin DeLattre served four straight aces to move Thiel from a 6-4 edge to 10-4. The Wildcats answered in spots, including Eleana Falkner's ace during an early three-point push and a later sequence with an Avani Rainier ace and a Peyton Maass kill that brought the set to 12-8. Thiel kept the separation from there and took the set 25-15.

In the third set, the Wildcats pulled even at 16-16 on a Rainier kill and a Thiel attack error, but Thiel answered and stayed in front late. Maass kept PCT within 22-20 with a kill, before Thiel scored the final three points to take the set 25-20.

Inside the box: Maass led the Wildcats with five kills and added nine digs. Smith recorded a team-high four service aces and added four assists and four digs. Falkner collected a team-high 10 digs and added a service ace. Sara Seyfert converted her lone attack for a kill and finished with four assists.

Jordan Yoder recorded 21 digs and five service aces for Thiel. Arin DeLattre finished with eight kills on 12 attacks, four aces and a block. Addilyn Vagi added 10 assists and four kills on five attacks.

Up next: The Wildcats face Saint Vincent College and Westminster on Saturday at 10 a.m., and 12 p.m., respectively.
