Boysen State Park Adventure awaits at Boysen State Park! Visit us for some of the best fishing, boating, swimming, and camping in the state. Highway 20 (east side), U.S.

Boysen State Park offers 3 entrances: U.S. Highway 26 (south side) and Bass Lake Road (west side). Boysen State Park is surrounded by the Wind River Indian Reservation and offers both day-use and overnight camping facilities. Boysen Reservoir is well-known as one of Wyoming’s best walleye and trout fisheries. During most of the season, the reservoir is warm enough for all water sports and an easily accessible swimming beach is located on the east shore. Water skiing is a popular sport here. Concessions and a marina serve the north end of the lake and offer food, bait, boat fuel and fishing licenses. In winter, the reservoir has first-rate ice fishing. A wide range of fish is present, including walleye, sauger, perch, crappie, ling, rainbow, cutthroat and brown trout, largemouth bass, bluegill, stonecat, black bullhead, mountain whitefish, lake trout, brook trout and splake. Non-game species include carp, fathead minnow, plains killifish, golden and sand shiners; flathead, lake and creek chubs; white, longnose and northern redhorse suckers; and the river carpsucker. Boysen offers fishing, camping and a variety of water sports , plus picnicking and sightseeing. There are 76 miles of shoreline plus several areas below the dam, along the waters of the Wind River. Several state record fish have been caught in this area. Boysen State Park is one of the larger parks in the State Park System. It is a lake-orientated park at the south end of the Owl Creek Mountains at the mouth of Wind River Canyon now part of the Wind River Canyon Scenic Byway. It offers a variety of water type recreation. Day and camping facilities are available. It features interesting geological formations. Several state record fish have been caught out of the reservoir. Winter Services... We are open year-round with limited services in the winter season. All of our water systems, except for Brannon are closed from October 1st - April 30th.

⚠️ A Toxin Advisory is in effect at several locations at the reservoir due to harmful cyanobacterial blooms (HCBs).

πŸ“ Brannon Campground, Cottonwood Campground, Fremont Bay Campground, Marina Campground, North Swim Beach, Sandy Hills Campground, South Muddy Campground, Tamaraska Campground, Tough Creek Campground, Below the Dam on the Wind River, Lower Wind River Campground, and Upper Wind River Campground

At these locations, toxin levels are unsafe for swimming or fishing; avoid areas near blooms.

A Bloom Advisory also remains in effect for the entire reservoir.

The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), the Wyoming Department of Health, and the Wyoming Livestock Board recommend that you:

🚫 Do not swim in or come into contact with green water, floating scums or clumps.
🚫 Do not ingest water from a bloom; boiling, filters, and other treatments will not make the water safe.
🎣 Rinse fish with clean water and eat only the fillet portion.
πŸ’§ Avoid water spray from a bloom.
🐾 Do not allow pets or livestock to drink water, eat bloom material, or lick their fur after contact.

If contact occurs, rinse with clean water immediately and contact a doctor or veterinarian if symptoms develop.

Learn more, view the live advisory map, or report a suspected bloom at WyoHCBS.org.

Visitors can still enjoy hiking, camping away from the shoreline, and wildlife viewing. Please keep a close eye on kids and pets near the water.

Boysen National Public Lands Day. Thanks to the participants helping to pull up those terrible puncturevines (aka goat heads) This awesome crew was able to pull up about 200 gallons of plants!!! And then we ran a burr roller over where they were picking up as many seeds as we could. We threw them all in the dumpster and ask if you see any of these pesky weeds during your visit to do the same!
