One of the most questions I get asked as a guide, is if I ever see any bears?

This year we have seen a bear almost every week we’ve been on the river. Most times we are floating by and enjoying Mother Nature for what she has to offer, and there they are coming down for a drink of water. Sometimes we get to watch them from camp on the ridge line on the other side of the river. Earlier this year we watched a bear run around throwing rocks, climbing the mountain, circling back around and just having a ball being a bear.

We are always aware of the possibility of a bear in camp and practice good camp etiquette with putting all food away and keeping it clean before we go to bed. But seeing them on the river is something magical.

Mother Nature is her own crazy force. Drove down to corn creek on July 21st with a muddy main and a clear middle fork. Then when I was driving back to salmon on July 23rd, the middle fork had blown out.

We did a one night with some guests who wanted to fish all day. The main was a chocolate brown color, but horse creek did not disappoint! The guests had a great day fishing in the sun and making memories that will last a lifetime!
