We’re excited to have Cumbre Alta soccer Bossier City as a partner at North Port Sports. Their club showed up BIG today to help get the fields ready for their first days of training! Please welcome them to our community.

Reflection and Direction

North Port Sports complex - a dream, a need, a passion, a reality….. It is a combination of all of these and more. Much more as I hope to share here. It is challenging for sure. A fifty year old facility with unkept grounds, deteriorating structures, utilities needing replacement…. What to do first and how?

A facility once used by God to reach and teach so many for so many years. So many memories and a worthy mission. Faithful teachers and coaches and administrators. Faithful students, parents, community leaders and churches. How does it change and how does it remain the same?

This year I spent many hours doing all kinds of work at the complex. Sometimes hot, dirty and tired. Sometimes cold, wet and tired. I’m not as young as I used to be! Honestly, I loved doing it. And honestly I would go home wondering what we had taken on and worrying about how we could possibly accomplish what we believe we were led to do.

At one point I was driving home with the radio on and a news item came on. The lottery was a large amount and everyone was rushing to buy tickets much like recent days. So I thought I would buy a ticket. And if I were to beat the astronomical odds then problem solved.

I could finish some things in the gyms that we had not completed. I could redo the fields to be used as soccer, lacrosse, cricket, rugby and flag football fields. I could install new lighting and maybe artificial turf. I could add batting cages, a beach sand volleyball court, build outdoor tennis and pickleball courts. I could renovate buildings for exercise classes, workout areas, instruction areas…. Maybe I could build new buildings for other indoor activities. The possibilities of what I could do seemed endless.

Then ( those of you reading this who are believers in God and the Lord Jesus Christ will understand) God spoke very clearly. He said to me “ listen to what you are saying. If you were to win the lottery you thought of many things saying, I ( referring to yourself) could do this and that. You ( meaning me) are totally forgetting or worse discounting what I ( God ) am capable of doing. Do you want to win the lottery and miss seeing what I ( God ) can do?”

I had to stop immediately and respond. I said, “ God I do not want to miss seeing what You can do. For You can do infinitely more than we can think or imagine. Your resources far exceed whatever millions of dollars there may be in winning the lottery.”

So I did not buy a ticket either then or now. Should I put my hope in the astronomical odds of winning the lottery or in the sure hope found in trusting God? I choose to trust God and see what He does.

So what is North Port Sports complex? What is its purpose? Ultimately I believe it is a place where spiritual growth is fostered. How God will do that is a mystery and is unique to each individual. I know it has contributed to my spiritual growth this last year.

How do I register?
You will email your roster with the player's name and DOB along with the coach's name to the following email: [email protected]. address

Who can register?
Anyone born from 2006 to 2016

Price?
Cumbre Alta Plylayer: $40
Non Cumbre Alta players: $120

When do we pay?
You will pay right before your first game at Nort Port Sports Complex.

When are games?
Games will be held on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

When is Deadline:
The deadline to submit the roster and team is November 30th.
