A few days after her brother Noah finished 2nd in the high school state championship, Benton 8th grader Abigail McWilliams won the girls middle school state championship. Dad Robbie knows how to play a little as well. Congratulations Abigail!

The First Baptist golf team captured the middle school state championship with a narrow win over Caddo Middle Magnet. Congrats to Ben Bretz, Jack Lauve, Jack Gilmer, Grayson Hargon and Quinton Hilliard (and Coach Mollie Catherine Blunt).

We have several ways to get your junior golfer plugged into activities at 265.

ERCC/265 PGA Jr. League is open to boys and girls ages 13 and under of all skill levels – no golf experience required! Our Kickoff Party is scheduled for May 20th from 5:30pm -7:00pm at the David Toms 265 Academy. Once you register you will have access to the entire practice and match schedule.

Next, we offering four weeks of summer camps at 265. Each camp will run Monday-Friday from 9 am to noon. Here are the weeks we are offering camp:

June 7-11
June 14-18
July 5-9
July 12-16

Cost is $315 for members and $400 for non-members. Call 798-5437 to register.

Finally, we have some openings in our DT2 program, which is a junior golf class that runs every Thursday at 4 pm. This class is designed for ages 8-10 (2nd-4th grade) and it's a perfect way to get your child introduced to the game. Call 798-5437 to register

Congratulations to Benton sophomore Noah McWilliams for his runner-up finish in the high school state championship. Noah lost in a playoff on the 2nd hole, but he played great for two days.

Sam was already an elite junior golfer when 265 opened in 2013, but it was great to have him out here every day working on his game, setting an example for others and helping younger players along the way. He made his announcement to attend LSU at 265 and he has inspired so many young golfers in our area. We know his win at the Valspar will be the first of many. Congratulations!

Pretty cool to be watching both Sam Burns and David Toms hold Sunday leads. Hope they both bring home the hardware.

The 265 golfers dominated at the high school regionals this week. Byrd took first place in their region by 17 strokes while the medalist was Benton sophomore Noah McWilliams (shot a 71). Byrd junior Sydney Moss shot a 76 and won the girls region by 9 strokes. Loyola ran away in their region as well. Junior Holden Webb was medalist after an impressive 69. Good luck to all of our golfers who will be headed to the state championship next week!

David Toms Academy is needing part-time employees to work in our Outside Services department. Responsibilities include picking golf balls from the driving range, cleaning golf carts, monitor activity on the course and more. Applicants must be at least 16, have a drivers license and be available to work evenings and weekends. Email [Email hidden] if you are interested in applying.

LSU junior Alden Wallace is in 2nd place after the 1st round of the SEC Championship. Wallace, a longtime 265 member, shot 6 under. She has been working with Chase Leone on her game and it’s awesome to see the hard work paying off! Good luck the rest of the week!
