It was fun to join over 300 people floating the Illinois river and supporting the Illinois River Watershed Partnership (IRWP) by picking up trash! We get to enjoy clean and beautiful rivers because of organizations like the IRWP and the volunteers that make it happen. Thank you to everyone who came out to help.

The Expedition Duo, 2 person packraft was a big help. We deflated the front seat and added a crate from Lowe's Home Improvement to the front. This allowed us to take up to 400 more lbs of trash out of the river.

Join us April 20th for a River Cleanup and FREE food at the IRWP pavilion in Cave Springs. Arkansas Packraft will be leading out at the Kincheloe boat put in and floating a couple hours to Chamber Springs. We will start at 9am and be done before noon!

Cleanup is on the Illinois River. Participants must have ALL of their own gear and shuttle. Float will start at Kincheloe RD to Chamber Springs Public Access. No shuttle or boats provided.

Almost all teams have made it in, and have until 12pm today to cross the finish line. Team Natural State crossed the finish line last evening at around 8pm. We are looking forward to the official point counts later today at the awards ceremony, so stay tuned!

It was exciting getting to send off Team Natural State today on the first of 3-4 water sections on the course (depending on which way you go). This section will be a nice reprieve after the first leg (60 miles of the Ozark Highlands Trail). During this section, one team member had to walk barefoot for 15 miles after one shoe fell apart on the trail. After some quick medical attention, they were off on their bikes, and shortly after were full of smiles and excitement.

Team Natural State have now made it to TA2 with a bonus helping of extra positive vibes, AND a report on how their mission to CP2-12 went. We’re out here at Expedition Ozark where the teams just completed around 60 miles of the Ozark Highlands Trail in 20-40hrs. We’re excited about the progress the teams are making, especially with how rough this leg of the race is. So proud of Team Natural State and looking forward to seeing them push through the next stage.
