Visma-Lease a Bike have announced the signing of Kylee Hanel on a stagiaire contract for two upcoming races in Brittany. The 20-year-old American won the youth classification at the 2026 Tour of Gila in the UCI Women's race, closing out the week with a win on the final stage in Pinos Altos, according to Cyclingnews .

"We are always looking for talented riders, and not only within the traditional road cycling world. Kylee caught our attention through her impressive performances," said Team Visma | Lease a Bike manager Rutger Tijssen.

Past Tour of the Gila Best Young Rider jersey wearer and former Vuelta a España winner Sepp Kuss (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) has made it through eight brutal weeks of Grand Tour racing already in 2026, according to Cyclingnews. He says, "And all of these efforts do add up, but for me, it's just the kind of racing I enjoy, whether I'm in the front or the back. I just love what I do and being in a Grand Tour, so that's the most important thing."

Since " she was the best rider on the Gila Monster queen stage and finished fourth on GC at Tour of the Gila," Kylie Hanel has "capped her first half of the season with the gold medal at the USPro U23 time trial, and took seventh at the U23 road race for good measure."

News about our 2026 UCI men's winnner: "Two-time mountain bike world champion Henrique da Silva Avancini was confirmed for the elite men's start list at the 2026 UCI Gravel World Championships in Nannup, Australia. ... The 36-year-old won his first marathon mountain bike world title in 2018 and ...has moved into gravel and road racing, finding success this year in both disciplines, winning the GC at the Tour of the Gila in the spring and then two medals at his home road nationals, including the gold medal in the time trial."

Our 2024-2026 UCI women's race winner is also making headlines. "Lauren Stephens (Aegis x LOE) won a third consecutive FoCo Fondo gravel race on Sunday, using a late attack to pull away and ride solo across the line in Fort Collins, Colorado."

Andy Bishop was the very first winner of Tour of the Gila. His victory here in 1987 foreshadowed a prolific cycling career and a beautiful life. We're honored that he is part of our race's history and proud that Tour of the Gila is part of his story too.

Andy Bishop, a pioneering American cyclist who raced four Tours de France and competed in mountain biking's formative years, has died at age 61.
