Silverdale Butokukan Karate

There is a new Shodan black belt at the Silverdale Butokukan Karate Organization Dojo! His name is Sensei Vaughn Collier!

Many "Old School" Butokukan black belts were in attendance for the test. The sparring was fearsome! There will be photos to follow this notice soon.

Also, there is a new Third Degree black belt belt at the BKO Dojo! His name is Sensei Steven Harader!

Attention all students at the BKO! Vaughn Collier's Black Belt Test is Saturday, June 13, at High Noon! Come support him, and, if possible, to participate as "aggressors!" Refreshments and comaraderie will follow afterward.

NOTE: Shihan Adamski wants us to arrive around 11:30 a.m. and be gi'd up and ready to participate by 12 Noon.

Paul Haithcock's personal sensei, referred to as his "up-line" sensei, Sensei David Diprete, conducted the test. The BKO 3rd degree Black belt, an active master in another style, knows his student well enough to pit him against one of the fiercest black belts in our style, Sensei Tony Hernandez. Sorry, there is no vids of the contest. But it was as gritty as some of the hard sparring of our black belts.

Thursday, May 7, dedicated purple belt, Paul Haithcock endured the rugged demands of a Butokukan Karate Organization Green Belt test.

Many of the attached photos were taken by Sensei Tony Hernandez. The fun ones were taken by Paul's misses, Misce Haithcock.

After the ordeal, some Black belts and one "underbelt" were so energized by the test, that they acted as though Paul hadn't been beat up enough. Yet, Shihan Adamski could only get at Sensei Tony Hernandez by the snap of the camera.

We are very proud to announce that on March 14, 2026, Senseis David DiPrete and Ken Parker earned their third degree black belt rankings. Congratulations to you both!

It was just December 6, 2024 that we lost Grand Master Robert Hill.

I still imagine sensing his image or his incredible "ki" in my peripheral vision at the Silverdale Dojo during class. Or, when at Sensei Tim Ford's Shelton Butokukan Karate Dojo.

I used visit with Soke's Hill's gracious wife Sharon when seminars and black and brown belt JABKA workouts were held there.
