ITS BOT FLY SEASON!
Here’s what you should know…

How the eggs are ingested:
When your horse grooms itself, its warm, moist tongue triggers the tiny yellow-gold eggs to hatch, allowing the larvae to enter the mouth and migrate to the stomach.
Removal: Wear gloves, use a bot fly scraper, toothbrush, sandpaper, or razor groom tool .

Cleanup: Placing a tarp under your horse can help catch falling eggs during removal, make sure you clean up and dispose of all eggs in airtight bags. Applying swat or Vaseline to the hair coat can help prevent more eggs from sticking.

Aftercare: Speak with your vet about the appropriate dewormer for your horse if you believe they could have swallowed any eggs.
