Pedego 101 Electric Bikes

10/25/2026

Today is Phil’s Cookie Fondo, a big charity bike ride event that starts at The Oaks Mall. People come from all over to ride the Conejo Valley and the Santa Monica Mountains. As in years past, Pedego Simi Valley (formerly Pedego Westlake Village) supplied e-bikes for people with event sponsor, MAC Construction. Not all of us are hardcore cyclists, and e-bikes are a great help on the big climbs, not to mention how much fun they are! The cookies are always fantastic, too!

Day 2 of exploring Livermore w**e country on Pedego Electric Bikes! Today included a visit to a pumpkin patch, lunch at a lake, and some fun downhill coasting!

We love exploring with our Pedegos! We’re visiting the Livermore w**e country today and tomorrow. We’ll post some video after we get back, but here are a few stills. I don’t know whether any of us got pics of the w**e and chocolate tasting!

[Update: Power is still down at 10:10am Saturday.]

Friday, October 16, 2026: our power is shut off today due to high winds and a Red Flag Alert. We’re open, but we’re limited in what we can do. SCE tells us this could last until tomorrow night.

In the first photo, Connor is using a bike headlight in the shop to supplement the small work light we have. We’re using our Element V1 batteries to charge our phones, as they have decent USB-A ports.

Many Pedego models have a USB-A port on the underside of the display, but they don’t provide much power. It’s better than nothing and might come in handy. With the display on, hold the “SET” and “+” buttons to activate the port.

For those who missed it, we moved to Simi Valley from Westlake Village a few months ago. We have a large space with great visibility, and it's close to our home, so we can ride to work almost every day!

We're on Los Angeles Avenue, between Stearns and Tapo St, not too far from the train station, across the street from the Arroyo Simi Bike Path. For you Simi locals, we're in the same building as Jerry's Coffee Shop, where the Kawasaki dealer used to be.

California friends and neighbors,

It's important to advocate for e-bikes and ensure they are not unfairly penalized due to issues related to e-motorcycles. I encourage you to take a moment to review this simple CalBike fact sheet, which includes key details and a form to contact your local legislator.

Thank you in advance for your support!

Electric bicycles are already clearly defined under state and federal law. But increasingly, high-powered “e-motos” — often exceeding 750 watts and capable of motorcycle-level speeds are being marketed and sold as “e-bikes,” especially to youth. SB 1167 draws a clear line. It protects legi...

California's Attorney General has taken a commendable stance by highlighting the risks and legal implications associated with higher-powered and faster electric motorcycles, while also recognizing the value of compliant e-bikes. This approach not only supports responsible brands and retailers but also promotes safe riding practices for consumers. By addressing these issues, California sets a positive example for the nation, ensuring that innovation in the electric mobility sector aligns with safety and compliance standards. https://lnkd.in/eVPe2p4p
