Every time Abby steps onto the platform for a 1RM attempt the women's record is in jeopardy of being broken.
Why is she successful over and over again?
- Consistency. Abby doesn't miss training. She doesn't let work, travel, or other responsibilities prevent training. She finds a way. She gets it ALL done.
- Intensity. Abby shows up and sends it. Over and over. Not every day is a 1rm day, but every training day calls for intense focus on doing the work... training time is training time, not chatting or scrolling time.
- Proper programming. Strengthshop is a conjugate gym. Proper programming means constant focus on ALL aspects of strength development: maximal strength, power, hypertrophy, athleticism, core power, and conditioning. Too many modern programs implement blocks of training where one element of strength is prioritized at the expense of other elements of strength (bulks, conditioning blocks, tempo blocks, etc). These programs always have gaps that reveal themselves by way of plateaus and injuries. Conjugate never sacrifices one strength for another.
There's a reason Westside won and broke records at the highest clip of any strength focused gym in history. There's a reason so many of the strongest athletes in the world today still use conjugate principles based on the Westside model. And there's a reason why, less than 4 years into her strength training journey, Abby has an elite deadlift complemented by a well rounded strength profile to include pressing power, core strength, and trophy-worthy conditioning.
Conjugate works. Always has, always will.

Thank you for a proper Strengthshop send off, folks.
As most of you know, today was my last day of coaching on the Strengthshop floor for potentially up to 8-10 weeks. Decompression/fusion surgery on my cervical spine is about 34 hours away.
The athletes of Strengthshop made sure I left on a high note. Time and time again over the last 2 weeks you stepped up and proved that our Strengthshop conjugate training program is unrivaled in its effectiveness and that your willingness to work to achieve a goal is unlimited and unaffected by being "past your prime."
Gaining formidable strength at any age is possible with discipline, intensity, and the unmatched power of the Conjugate system. Your accomplishments in just the last 2 weeks:
Shaun Wert- 520 deadlift PR
Kristy Redstreake- 180 squat PR
Kristy Redstreake- 125 bench PR
Jeff McCleer- 515 deadlift PR
Ben Smith- 225 bench PR
Ben Smith- 245 squat PR
Abby Harris- 165 bench PR
Abby Harris- 245 squat PR
The average age of these athletes is 40.5 years old. The average training experience level is 3.5 years.
The work continues for each of you as I step aside to climb this mountain. The Strengthshop community is much more than just one person and I have unwavering confidence in your abilities to continue to demonstrate that iron sharpens iron, and to prove that there just isn't another place like Strengthshop Gym.
Thanks to all.

Weak becomes strong and strong becomes stronger at Strengthshop. Today Abby Harris pushed her women's record deadlift to 355.
- 3+ years pulling on the platform
- First official max was 185lbs
- Zero misses. Ever.
Abby is coming off a victory at Revolution Strongman League SHEroes 2 just two weeks ago and we look forward to seeing her in action again at RSL IronMaidens 1 in August!
But in the mean time it's back to what ALWAYS works when it comes to developing strength... heavy basics, progressive overload, and conjugate based programming. Strength is a skill that requires cultivation. Discipline is the fuel that drives it.
First we build the mindset and then we build the champion. And as always, there is much more to come.
