Championship Weekend 🏈🏆

The Cassadaga Rookie team lost a heartbreaker in the Rookie Championship game on Saturday. Though the result was not in our favor, the kids played hard and should be very proud of their effort and overall success this season!

The Cougars got on the board early with a TD run by Theo Monacelli and a two-point conversion by Chase Beichner. Fredonia answered back on the next drive and was able to put an additional TD on the board before halftime, leaving the Cougars down by 6 to start the second half.

The Cougars started on defense in the second half and were able to get a stop, but most of the third-quarter clock had ticked away by the time they got the ball back. The Cougars made quick work to start the fourth quarter with a long run by Chase Beichner to set up a Monacelli TD run and an extra point conversion. This gave the Cougars a 16-14 advantage in the 4th quarter.

The Cougars made some plays on defense to back up Fredonia, but ultimately they were able to score to take the lead for good. The Cougars fought hard to battle back at the end of the game, but came up a little short.

It was a fantastic back-and-forth game against a good team. The kids fought hard and battled until the very end!

On defense C**t Jarvis led the way with a big day, recording 3 TFLs and 5 tackles. Beichner and Monacelli had 5 tackles. Tucker Bruyer had 4 total tackles and TFL. Deklan Pierce had 3 TFLs. Easton Johnson, Gunnar Webster and Caleb Boyland all had multiple tackles. Wesley Long also got in on a tackle.

On offense, Monacelli had 187 yards rushing with 2 TDs. Beichner had 64 yards rushing and an extra point. Easton Johnson and Kinlee Smith each caught a pass.

Coming up a little short in the Championship game is never fun. But the Cougars were a force all season long. Their hard work and dedication were evident all season, and each kid improved every week!

This season is another strong building block as we continue to grow and develop a bright future for The Herd! What a fun season it was. Cassadaga is proud of you kids! Regroup and we will be back at it next season! If you live in the Valley and want to play football next year, reach out and let's have some fun!

Go Cougars!
