Week 2 results are in!! Everyone did an amazing job for week 2! It turned out to be a beautiful afternoon despite the morning. Please take the time over the next few weeks to help them improve their fitness/endurance level with any kind of physical activity. Basically, get them up and moving!
Remind your runners that these races are not only about first place but about improving on yourself week to week. Talk to your runners about their time and start to plan a goal for the rest of the series.
One thing I noticed for the 2/3 year olds is a few parents ran with the kids. Please make sure moving forward you do not run with the kids as this is meant to build their confidence and endurance. If they do not want to run that is perfectly acceptable. This does not apply to the challenger division.
Click the link below to see the results for week 1. The 50 and 75 yard dash are not timed so how they finished in the heat is where they will be in the results. The 1/4, 1/2 and full mile is timed so their place is determined by their time. Additionally, we run the mile as coed and for 2 different age divisions, so your child may have finished third in the mile heat but first in their overall age group results.

I want to thank everyone for being patient with us! This is my first year running this program. In addition we did not have any returning volunteers so yesterday was everyone’s first race! We did have a hiccup with starting some of the 50/75 yard heats a few minutes early. I will makes sure moving forward we stick to the schedule. Having said that, please plan to arrive 15-20 minutes early to be ready and to join the warm up sessions. These sessions will take place at the beginning and before the 1/4 mile as a reminder. Please make sure to thank the volunteers when you see them as we would not be able to run without them!

We had a great turnout last night with about half of the runners picking up their bibs and shirts! We will be at the Shiloh Hills Park again tonight from 5-7. Excited for our first race day this Sunday!
I also wanted to share this event at the Berks Heritage Center on 4/25. This event is hosted by the Reading and Berks YMCA as well as Berks County Parks and Recreation. A great way to get out and support the community.
